About this deal

I do not get the same level of engagement with S as I do with S2. S is very good, S2 is so much more engaging though. The timbre and how the notes end are what makes it more engaging for me. The acting of the notes is at a better level. I am enjoying the acting and the story rather than thinking about the acting. The Sennheiser HD 660S2 sound very open and spacious and it extends well on both sides. The presentation is also nicely airy from top to bottom. While the depth is good, especially in the lower frequencies, the layering over-all could be even further improved. It’s nice but it’s not at HD 800S levels. We don’t expect it to be either, but we know it can be even better. The HD 660S2 has excellent PRaT and a really clean presentation. The HD560’s mids are linear and clear. They just get cut off by their sibilant and grainy treble that occasionally hinders them from a totally smooth vocal presentation.

The headphone comes with two cables, 1.5m and 3m length, but they are both single ended, you have to buy an extra one if you want to go balanced. Renowned for their neutrality and musical delivery, Sennheiser’s HD 660 headphones have a cult following. Now in S2 form, the updated model features lighter voice coils and improved airflow, helping to enhance the bass response. Dropping from 110Hz to 70Hz, the bottom end now has noticeably more impact, without spoiling the headphone’s legendary sonic precision. The non-fatiguing HD 660S2 gives people who love music an intimate way to connect more deeply with their favorite songs and artists. Breathtaking resolution and precision take you closer than ever to instruments and vocalists. Yet the sound is natural and balanced, never harsh or brash. Bisher hatte ich den AKG K702, den AKG K500 und (zum Vergleich geliehen) den Sennheiser HD800S, der zugegebenermaßen in einer anderen Liga spielt.I advise against third-party earpads since all of them, without exception, ruin the sound. Comfort and isolation A very forward, mid-centric tuning that clearly favors human voices, especially contralto, male alto and soprano and gives an extra projection to certain instruments or their harmonics.

And Sennheiser, acting as a skilful and inspired composer, has managed to create a little gem variation that, in my opinion, has managed to surpass the original theme. Sennheiser goes a slightly different route this time, with the upper-mids being less pronounced than the predecessors. The transition from low-end to midrange and on to the top of the frequency range is level and even, and there’s more than enough dynamic headroom available to make the distance between very quiet and extremely loud in a piece of music very considerable indeed. The facility the HD 660S2 demonstrate with detail retrieval means that low-level dynamic variations are given full expression too, and the consistent neutrality of the tonal signature of the low frequencies and the midrange makes for a unified, singular presentation. measures result in even greater precision, speed, and resolution - with double the sound pressure at the Despite the usual sneer directed at plastic for not having a “premium” enough feel in hand, the HD 6xx series of headphones tend to last for a long time. My HD 650, for example, have been going strong for over seven years. The familiar design of the 6XX series re-appears on the HD 660S2.

How does the Sennheiser HD 660S2 sound?

Unfortunately, the price is higher than I consider “apt.” The MSRP is exaggerated for a product that is a slight upgrade over the last model – primarily offering improvement in the bass for existing HD 600 and HD 650 owners.

This is a treble of the highest quality and fidelity, the S2 sounds airy, crisp, crystal clear and ultimately transparent. As the performance was very good already, it is rather difficult to muster a holistic improvement. Sennheiser HD 660S2 Sound

Supplied with balanced and non-balanced cables, the HD 660S2 maximises the potential of dedicated headphone amps and music players fitted with balanced outputs. Balanced cables minimise interference, enhancing the music’s purity. The standard, non-balanced cable is fitted with a 6.35mm plug, with a push-on 3.5mm adaptor also supplied. Sundaras are definitely left in the dust, if they couldn’t touch the bass weight of the 660S’s, then they definitely can’t touch the 660S2’s. An interesting comparison is that when listening to solo singing voices, like an opera aria, the voice on the 660S2 is projected close to your face and at the center of it, at the front of your nose, when with the 109 PRO it feels as being moved a couple of meters away and at the upper part of your head, at your eyes height. also went into optimizing the airflow around the transducer.
