Creative Sound Blaster X4: Final Thoughts Auto Mute and Two-way Noise Cancellation via SmartComms Kit on Creative app for Windows users and CrystalVoiceOrange is Direct Mode (pictured), which disables all audio effects in favour of direct sound from the game or music. And when it comes to versatility, the X3 is unmatched. Featuring a myriad of connectivity options including a USB-C port, Optical-out, and Line-in that makes it compatible with most audio devices, X3 is set to redefine your movie and gaming experience at the comfort of your home. Creative App is the mobile equivalent of the desktop app of the same name, whose features I've just described. By offering this app, Creative found a great way to get around a common issue with external USB sound cards: the inability to use their features on consoles, as their functionality is usually highly dependent on the Windows/macOS driver. The mobile version of the Creative App, available for Android and iOS devices, contains every feature available in its desktop variant, so you can use it to fully configure the Sound Blaster X4. The mobile app communicates with the sound card via Bluetooth, and the one-time pairing process is extremely simple. It comes down to pressing the volume knob on the Sound Blaster X4 when instructed to do so by the app. Do note that the Bluetooth connection cannot be used for audio streaming. For Window users, there's also Dolby Digital Live 1 for convenience of encoding any audio sources to multi-channel surround sound in real-time, all while transmitting data using only a single optical cable solution for decoding on a home theater system. Besides, there's no need to sacrifice your room's physical space for an actual 7.1 sound system! Simply connect the Sound Blaster X3 to your computer for immersive surround sound output which is perfect for gaming sessions with friends, or to impress that special someone during movie nights. I grabbed my go-to mixed genre playlist which gives me a good mix of music frequencies. I’m happy to tell you the X4 performs well with well-balanced sound delivering good highs and mids with punchy lows across the board. Overall, they provide the DT 990 PRO with plenty of power.
