About this deal

Paige Toon’s voice is electric, passionate and fresh. I was hooked immediately and really liked how the storyline developed. The book is also very sexy and exciting.

Also, the secondary characters added a ton of depth to the story, the writing transported me right to the Cambridge suburbs, and I loved Hannah's profession as an optician/ all that I learned within this field. Wow Wow Wow! This was classic Toon and I absolutely loved it. If I had a spare 5 minutes of listening time then I took it, I hated having to put it down and step away from Hannah and Sonny. I have never read a Paige Toon book before, but I read the blurb of this one and I loved it and am really glad I read this book, I did find it a bit slow at the beginning but that was all about getting to know Sonny and Hannah, there was such a blast of connection when they first meet that maybe a relationship might happen, it is sure to go smoothly, but love very rarely does and this journey was filled with heart wrenching situations and events that have happened to both Hannah and Sonny in the past and for a future they need to overcome these.Use italics (lyric) and bold (lyric) to distinguish between different vocalists in the same song part Chapter 3 If I thought I was going to be able to stop thinking about him, I was wrong. As April melded pleasantly into May, Sonny continued to be a distraction. And not a pleasant distraction, not in the way it was at first. That look in his eyes was so stark, so bleak. He seemed broken. I couldn’t forget it. I confided in Umeko that he seemed upset when he came in to collect his glasses. She replied that she didn’t know his father well enough to call him about personal issues, but promised to ask after Sonny the next time she spoke to his dad about something accounts related. To my knowledge, that hasn’t yet happened. * One late afternoon in mid-May when I’m out at the front dead-heading the roses, I hear the side door to Evelyn’s clinic open. I can’t decipher specific words, but I can hear Evelyn’s serene, musical voice and the low, deep tone of a man’s reply. A minute later, this same man, I’m presuming, appears from the side of the building, wheeling his bicycle down the gravel driveway towards the road. I straighten up with a start. It’s Sonny. My sudden movement catches his eye and he glances my way, giving me a cursory nod. Then he does a double take, puzzlement creasing his brow. ‘Sonny,’ I say. ‘Oh, hi,’ he replies vacantly, coming to a slow stop. ‘Hannah. I work with Umeko,’ I remind him awkwardly as his gaze sweeps over my appearance. ‘I didn’t recognise you,’ he admits. It’s a fair comment. My casual clothes couldn’t be more different from the strait-laced uniform I’m required to wear for work. A twisty romance full of Paige’s signature passion and feeling. Classic Paige Toon from beginning to end.”—Lindsey Kelk, author of The Christmas Wish It’s full of emotions and that makes the book really intense in a good way. There are a lot of unexpected moments and ups and downs. Hannah has her own reasons for wanting to keep their budding friendship platonic. Plus, she’s only in town temporarily, housesitting for her uncle. But as the summer hots up and the chemistry between them intensifies, Hannah and Sonny discover that there’s more to each other than meets the eye...

I always know I can trust a book by Paige Toon to give me some escapism!…Hannah and Sonny’s relationship is gorgeously flirty and the whole book is uplifting, touching and romantic while hitting some pretty big topics….A pure delight to read.”—Giovanna Fletcher, author of Eve of Man I will certainly be reading more Paige Toon novels, I was pleasantly surprised at the exceptional issues covered and her characters are real life people you really enjoy following throughout the story. The Minute I Saw You is the latest release from bestselling author Paige Toon. Love, trauma, emotional wellbeing, personal baggage, friendships, chance and courage defines this moving contemporary romance novel. A perfect winter warmer, Paige Toon’s latest uplit title will embrace all readers, far and wide. Don't write just "I love this song." Hidden between the lines, words and thoughts sometimes hold many different not yet explained meanings I think The Minute I Saw You is a really great title for a contemporary fiction and romance novel. Paige Toon’s new release alludes to an instant, fall in love at first sight style romance. The novel and synopsis does head this way in some respects, but it encompasses much more. The Minute I Saw You was consuming and heartfelt. With emotional highs and lows, this one will be sure to strike a strong chord with a wide audience range. An interesting recurring motif which ran the length of the novel was eyes and the idea of looking at someone. As a recurring visual element, it reinforces one of the novel’s key ideas about seeing someone else for who they really are and being seen down to your very core. It’s also clever of Toon to have done this, because at the core of a lot of romance storylines is the ‘wall’ between the characters – something that prevents them from getting together. A lot of the time it’s because one or both of the parties have skeletons in their closet that makes them afraid of intimacy; of being truly seen. It did a very good job of exploring this idea, and had a very nice tie-in to a subplot which looked how homeless people are often overlooked – not properly seen. It was a lovely, thought provoking touch that didn’t obnoxiously make its point, but gave the novel a certain weight that was enjoyable. Paige Toon is a relatively new author to me, and my best friend and I took it upon ourselves to read ‘The Minute I Saw You’ as a read along. I enjoyed watching Hannah and Sonny get close, seeing their friendship grow and evolve throughout (without them realising how close they were actually getting). I loved the rest of the additional characters – Bertie for one will having you laughing but Matilda and Archie will prove extra special too.

Book Review: The Minute I Saw You by Paige Toon - Culturefly

As Hannah and Sonny decide to carry on as just friends, they soon settle into a warm and easy friendship that plays out over a summer filled with lazy days on the River Cam, trips to the beer garden with their wonderful group of friends and nights in bingeing the latest Netflix sensation. But as summer heats up, it’s clear that the chemistry between the pair isn’t going to go away any time soon. Soon Hannah and Sonny are both left questioning their reasons for keeping the other at arm’s length, but if they open up and break through each other’s barriers, will they still like what they see on the other side? When I first went to live with my aunt and uncle, it took a lot of coaxing to get me to open up, while Charles could’ve talked the hind legs off a donkey. June was quieter, more willing to embrace the silence. I feel a pain, missing her – she was very comfortable to be around, a soothing, calming soul who always made me feel safe. But it was Charles who challenged me, who encouraged me out of my shell and who helped me to rediscover my voice and the confidence Id had…’ When Hannah and Sonny meet, a spark ignites that is hard to ignore and impossible to forget. Weeks later, their paths cross again, but Sonny appears distant and reluctant to meet Hannah’s eye. It soon transpires that Sonny is at a crossroads. He’s committed to making serious life changes – ones that can’t and won’t include romance. I absolutely adored Matilda and Archie, their romance was as equally as adorable as Hannah and Sonny’s, and I found myself wanting to be a part of their friendship group.
