About this deal

Some posters blather on about changes without the slightest regard for rigor. To boot, they evaluate whilst intoxicated and at injurious levels. I endured too many sessions with doped up musicians to have any tolerance for audiophools. Depending on how long you plan on keeping the amp, buy the best capacitors you can justify putting into it. They will make a difference. Once the unit settles in and I pair it with a more appropriate speaker, I will get a feel for areas that I might like to make some changes (caps, resistors, tubes). And truth be told, my gut has me feeling that any of those changes will only yield slight potential increases in sound. All too often people overstate the effects of changing parts. I’ve heard positive differences in swapping parts and I’ve heard negative differences in changing parts to boutique parts. It’s a recipe, season to taste but it’s not as easy as you would hope. There is just something about sitting in a dim room listening to a S.E.T. Amp. Yes, this amp is a Class A S.E.T. amp, or Single Ended Triode. S.E.T. amps have seething special about them and I have always been a fan of them. My fondest memories of listening over the last several years have been with S.E.T. amps and I now remember why after spending some time with the R300.

I hooked up the all tube R300 (it is even tube rectified) to the DCS Lina DAC, the Weiss 501 DAC and a Bluesound Node. The cool thing about an amp like this is that its forte is not about throwing surgical details at you. This means almost any decent DAC will do and sound lovely with this integrated. I love the performance of this modest integrated than I am going to move way up the food chain of 300b amps. More about this later when I get the new amp. Steve. Great review. I have a man cave/shop that’s 30×40. It has a 42” wall that petitions a 10×12 man cave area. Would the 300b driving 92db speakers reasonably fill up the 10×12 area? I mostly listen to jazz. Thanks for your help! Just to share some experience with the 300B. I have the original Willsenton R-300B model from a couple years ago. That one has a balanced set of inputs. Very nice amp. From rumors online I believe Willsenton are made by the same factory as Cayin and Prima Luna. You can see the resemblance to Cayin in build with the newer version Willsenton R300 model.

I share your dread of replacing those tubes, given how expensive they can be, though some more than others, even here. Vacuum Tubes Nice to know that you are off to such an impressive start. Given the type of music you are listening to I am not surprised. the amplifier is revealing more aliveness and naturalness. Certainly, makes for a more engaging listening experience. I don't have any real experience modifying hifi gear so this will be my first attempt. I do not plan to change any cap values for the Willsenton R300 as the amp sounds good as is. Nice bass response etc. But I do believe the clarity can be improved with high quality coupling caps. It is clear that the Willsenton 300b SET is revealing and preserving the pure beauty of the music you love. Excellent outcome for you. Yes, you mentioned realism. That's what a good SET can do so well.

Next most important are the materials: polypropylene, styrene, teflon (insulators); aluminum, tin, copper, silver (conductors). I don’t see the need to excuse rude and obnoxious behavior. I appreciate that we view this differently and that’s fine. What really caught my attention in this Klipch review is the fact that Jay's has also tested many amplifiers, all of which are excellent, including the much more expensive and powerful Willsenton R800i. And yet, with these particular speakers in any case, it's the Willsenton R300 that he recommends. He calls it an exceptional match. Can't speak to the Willsenton R300, however the R8 Willsenton's volume control is inoperative when used as just an amplifier. Personally, I much prefer an amplifier with a warm and sweet "tube" midrange. It is on this level I think that one must choose between these two excellent amplifiers.Did anyone know if the .33uF on the B+ filter cap is just for noise filtering on the power supply or does it have any effect on the amp sound? I probably will just leave that one alone unless someone one here has some advice for that one. Now my main equipment is made up of a Marantz HD DAC1, by the way also because of you, then some floorstandings of my beloved Castle Knight 5 brand -91db- and most of the cables of this equipment are from the ODIN brand. I don't want to seem like I am dismissing the 300b integrated in question here. I am sure it is very good value and would have a pleasing sound. As we have discussed, it can no doubt be improved with better signal path parts. It will have a limit due to the circuit and power supply design, but could still sound quite good. Just not superb. It simply cannot go to that level because of the basic design, and that is just fine because that was not what it was intended to do. The 300b project I am doing with Lynn is an attempt to make a state of the art amp, so not really the same design goal:) Build the best amp you can, and then figure out what it has to sell for. There is no price point target. The 300B tube brings the artist in the room with you in a more haunting ethereal way than any solid state amp can muster. Along with this we usually hear a very wide soundstage that is three dimensional with a gentle treble that has just enough sparkle to make it all realistic.

DIFIIFOL 70W Tube Amplifier Remote with VU Meter Phono Coax Optical Aux BT 5.0 USB Input and Subwoofer 6.35mm Headphone Output

This integrated amplifier is bonafide gorgeous in looks and design. It is also hand made and hand wired, something that is not done very much these days due to the expense. It has a blue semi glossy piano paint finish for a true high end look. It is built very well and uses what I feel is the most magical tube in existence for audio. The 300B. This is an integrated amp made for easy to drive speakers and the sounds it creates are lush, deep, rich and beautiful. I have already decided the Muzishare X10 is a keeper as there is no other amp that I have that grabs the speaker drivers like those Kt150 tubes do. It would be the one for more modern / pop music. The bass is tight and bold and really gives you a punch to the chest when turned up. Yes, probably. This was a strong point of my old Elekit TU-8200DX whose headphone output was well connected to the tubes. I want to thank you for your review about this 300B device, because it was the trigger for me to buy one.
