About this deal

I have two questions. First, regarding cards such as the American Bittern or Common Loon, which say “Player(s) with the fewest [wetland] birds draw 1 [bird card].” Should the players be comparing the number of birds played in their wetland versus birds played in their other habitats, or should the players be comparing the number of birds played in their wetland versus the number of birds played in other players’ wetlands.

I’m a bird enthusiast, and I love to play wingspan with my family. I have two questions. One is a design question and the other concerns actual play. I really love play wingspan, and it’s my go to game when introducing friends to the board game hobby, due to its simplicity and the ability to really strategize with cards. I also quite enjoy the different expansions. One of my favorite parts are learning about the different birds (and laughing at their silly names). This bird is not only an efficient and flexible point bomb, but it also grants card advantage! Dropping a seven-point bird that also gives you three cards is amazing! My wife bought Wingspan for Christmas. Immediately all of the family got hooked and now we all love the game. Bought the European exp yesterday as well. By the way, Stonemeyer san, do you have any plans to release a video collection of the birds of Wingspan?

Wingspan

Hi! We love your game! Most of the games don’t work so well when played by to players. But Wingspan is perfect! Always different and unpredictable just to the end! Thanks! Just got the game and have played 4 times in duet mode- very different from the first three sets! So if you have a bird with a brown stripe that says gain a wheat if there is one in the bird feeder, and there are only two worms, you may reset the bird feeder, then take a wheat if one is rolled?

We’re excited to see more bird card reveals for Wingspan Asia Expansion in the coming months. This was just a “teaser,” Jamey will be revealing one new bird card each month in the lead-up to the full official announcement in “early Q4 2022”. I hope Golden Pheasant makes the cut! For the uninitiated, Wingspan (and the existing European and Oceania expansions) are basically engine building games in which the players compete for hundreds of different bird cards, play them by spending appropriate foods, and then use their abilities to score the most points. Points come from the birds themselves, from eggs laid on the birds, from either hidden or public objective cards and from a few unique effects on certain bird cards. Related question, if a bird costs “Wheat/Berry” (no specific power), does this count as 1 or 2 for the round goal? The design question is about the Painted Whitestart card. While this is a correct name for the bird, it is used much less commonly than Painted Redstart, which is the generally accepted common name. Do you know the reason behind choosing Whitestart? I have two questions, so far: 1) I have a Northern Gannet, when activated all the food die are in the feeder already, there are 4 fish in there! Do I get the tokens to cache, or nothing? If nothing it makes the cards value go way down.
