About this deal

All vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are concerned, our camper vans also, as well as their trailers if necessary. Vulnerable road-users account for 70% of road deaths in urban areas and the accident rate in France is higher than the UK. Emission zone certificates, where required (see section on Low Emission Zones and Clean Air Zones below) No one has said that its OK to kill - and I'm sure no one even suggests that it might be OK. and I'm pretty certain than no one want to end up in a situation where an accident might occur.

A green card is proof that you have vehicle insurance when driving abroad, and is available from your insurer. From the 2 August 2021 UK residents will no longer need a green card for car or trailer when travelling to the following countries: The fine for not having them fitted is 135€, payable on the spot in cash or by French cheque (if you do not have the cash you will be escorted to the closest cash machine to withdraw it.) It also refers to foreign 'lorries' but since motorhomes are category 'M (Special purpose)' which is a passenger carrying category, it would seem that they are not 'lorries' which presumably is colloquial for category 'N' i.e. goods carrying vehicles. Does that Ministry know that there a private passenger carrying vehicles over 3.5t and which are not 'passenger transport' vehicles like buses and coaches, which they refer to? Offensive signage fitted to vehicles will result in a Major Action Point at FORS audit. Failure to remove such signage will result in suspension from FORS until it is removed or replaced. The abuse continues - you say that anyone sliding down the inside is a moron, when they are following the law and often the infrastructure laid out for them. These people, yes people are going about their daily lives, they are not morons. Would you blame a car driver for being killed when rear-ended on a motorway when they are following the highway code and law, of course you would not and you would not call them a moron either. The double standards based on someone's choice of transport is staggering. On trailers, each side (left and right) between 0m-1m behind the kingpin (for semi-trailers) or the front body of other trailers.

I am very aware of the different standards of vehicles and the the different tools that available to drivers, including fully glass doors. There is also a huge difference between a well trained careful driver in a well appointed vehicle and a relatively untrained tipper driver being paid per load in a death trap vehicle. This is recognised already as London has been trying to implement https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/deliveries-in-london/delivering-safely/direct-vision-in-heavy-goods-vehicles for quite some time to restrict badly designed vehicles. Quite often some vehicles are not suitable for the city streets they are travelling on. On vehicles with direct vision systems at the bottom of the doors, or glass doors, the side signs must be “as close as possible” to the 0m-1m rule, and no more than 3m from the front of the vehicle. On the road, bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, motorized personal transporters and pedestrians are smaller and less visible than a car to drivers of heavy vehicles. They are thus easily found out of their field of vision, in their blind spots. Oh France. Was the breathalyser fiasco not enough? Has BREXIT not given you enough drama? Or are you simply TRYING to create chaos and confusion… (Don’t answer that!) For semi-trailers: signage, left and right, in the first meter behind the vehicle's kingpin and at a height between 0.90 and 1.50 meters from the ground. The Mayor of London has adopted Vision Zero for road danger in London with the aim of eliminating all deaths and serious injuries from London's streets by 2041. Upgrading the Safe System is key to further reducing road danger, improving the safety of all road users and meeting Vision Zero. targets Find out more about our commitments to improving road safety in the Mayor's Transport Strategy. Be aware that LEZs and CAZs are being introduced across Europe – mostly in large city centres, but also in places where pollution can build-up such as valleys. Depending on the zone type, you may have to pay a fee to drive, others may not permit polluting vehicles to be used. The new law includes vehicles from all countries – whether in or outside of the EU – with an authorised total weight of more than 3.5 tonnes. These areas, the extent of which vulnerable users are often unaware, are the source of serious and sometimes fatal accidents. To improve this situation, heavy vehicles must now affix signs showing their blind spots. They are thus better indicated to vulnerable users who circulate nearby.
