The reveal was so good and the killer in this book is actually one of the most evil I’ve read about and I was definitely a bit disturbed. The writing, plot, characters, literally everything was spot on for me, and I can’t actually fault a thing! I also enjoy the light romance in here because it wasn’t over powering at all and didn’t take my attention away from the mystery. I think there will be more books following these characters and I can’t wait to read them! Sam devise a plan to give the police enough details so that they can start looking for clues to solve some of these murders. However, it does not take the police long to identify Sam, and in fact, he ends up being their main suspect. However, there is just something about the kind, gentle psychologist that makes Kit certain that he is no killer. The first installment of the new San Diego Case Files series from Sunday Times bestselling author Karen Rose. This is a really interesting concept for a story because it follows not only the perspective of the police working on a serial killer case, but also the perspective of a psychologist who has found himself involved in the case. Kit is a determined, hardworking cop who is motivated by the murder of her foster sister to solve as many cold cases as possible to give families closure like she didn’t get. Sam is a psychologist who does lots of charity work and seems like an all round Good Samaritan. One of his patients disclose information connected to a serial killer that leaves him feeling unsettled, and he gets pulled into this case and even finds himself as a suspect.

With its compelling and masterfully plotted storyline, this is an impressive beginning to a new series by Karen Rose, one of my top-favorite writers. In my humble opinion, romantic suspense doesn’t get any better than hers. She keeps you wanting to learn all about the characters and anticipating what is going to happen next. Highly recommend all of her books’ And as the investigation unfolds and the stakes rise. Sam starts to believe his only option is to hunt for answers himself.

Sam is soon released but goes home with both a newfound distaste for the SDPD and a resolve—not unlike Kit’s—to uncover the truth. Kit and Sam repeatedly butt heads in their separate investigations but are forced to work together to find one of the deadliest serial killers the city has faced in years. One thing I absolutely loved about this story was the relationships between Kit’s family. They were so kind and supportive and always there for each other and it honestly just warmed my heart reading about them. I loved that we got an in-depth look into all the characters too, I felt really involved in the story and found myself really caring about the characters and what happened to them.

Cold Blooded Liar is the first book in Karen Rose’s new San Diego Case Files series. It was my first time reading something from Karen Rose but it definitely won’t be the last! I liked a lot of the characters especially Kit & her family and Sam and even though things were questionable I did think he would be innocent it just didn’t seem like something he would do and he did want to help with everything. I did kind of expect the murder of her foster sister in the beginning to come into the main story a bit more but it was a different killer so wouldn’t have made sense. Karen Rose has written another top-notch thriller! Grab this book. I suspect the author is setting the scene for the next book.
