About this deal

Another new feature filled with poignant moments is ‘ Looking for Lennie‘. Host Toby Hadoke ventures out to uncover more details of Lennie Mayne who directed ‘ The Three Doctors‘ for Season 10. From revealing the details of his tragic demise, Hadoke uncovers a lot of previously unknown information. The conclusion is hugely emotional and it feels only right that this much loved man has received the celebration that his life richly deserved.

So to be clear, it’s not about rushing the hardworking people on these sets, and I don’t agree with Levine’s take on the silence. For me it’s the not knowing at all what’s going on. It’s only thanks to @Gordon in the comments above regarding Mark Ayers that we finally have some kind of granule of a hint that it may be the actual workload proving greater than maybe initially intended towards a release date with regards to Peter Davison and co. Although this idea was in fact greenlit, permission had to be rescinded when it was discovered that Davison's second job — the then-popular BBC One comedy, Sink or Swim — wouldn't allow for this more aggressive Doctor Who production schedule. BBC One controller, Alan Hart, had to personally step in to settle the dispute between the two production teams, and he "awarded" Davison to Sink or Swim. This meant that season 20 would, like its predecessor, be broadcast in the first quarter of 1983. I wouldn’t normally recommend a trip to the Missing Episodes forum, but there’s pure factual info there from Mr Bignell, including the elements that Coburn Sr created (not just the cave men, unfortunately). All episodes have been newly remastered from the best available sources including original film elements for The Five Doctors – these classic adventures have never looked or sounded so good on home media. Doctor Who: The Collection – Season 20STUDIO FOOTAGE Rare behind-the-scenes material from Vengeance On Varos, The Two Doctors, Timelash and Revelation Of The Daleks I tried posting this for you all this morning but my message hasn’t shown up for some reason so I’ll try again 🙂 Reply What I’m saying is that I believe fans want one single Collection set of Doctor Who, have confidence to invest into the main product, knowing it is the best content. For me, that’s having confidence that, even if I get spelling errors or picture / sound blips, at least I could have access to reprint discs identical to the later standards. Unfortunately with Season 18, that’s simply not the case, you have to buy both editions. Batman star Michael Gough, inset, originally starred as the villain alongside ‘Allo ‘Allo’s Carman Silvera and former Blue Peter star Peter Perves.

The following stories are the known ones to be set between the Season 19 finale Time-Flight and Season 20 opener Arc of Infinity:Given so many contributors to Season 2, be they in front of or behind the camera, are sadly no longer with us you’d be forgiven for pondering if there would be a limited amount of material. Far from it. There are two brand new In Conversation interviews with Matthew Sweet alongside William Russell and Maureen O’Brien. Both are excellent and provide wonderful detail into the experiences of two companions of the early days of Doctor Who. O’Brien‘s tale is particularly fascinating. Not initially keen to join the show, content with her stage roles. Then she’s tasked with appeasing Hartnell. As usual these interviews are wonderfully broad and yet detailed. A sheer delight to watch. Doctor Who: The Collection – Season 2 (c) Bedwyr Gullidge Samuel if you have all the Limited Editions then why on Earth do you keep going on about wanting them to re-release all the Limited Editions? Makes no sense haha 🙂 In Region B, this meant the set was released with Series 1-4 mastered at 1080p24, the 2009 Specials mastered at 1080i60, and Series 5-7 mastered at 1080i50. In Region A, the previously released series were remastered, resulting in the entire set being presented at 1080p24.

It is possible that the next release is either the Smugglers or the Celestial Toymaker, but not bothwithin months of each other. Of the rumours around the animation and release of these stories, one might be true but not both. There would need to be a third animation studio or of CT, tS or UM, one would have been made at least a year ago and the release delayed by 12 months or so – delaying a return on the work. Doctor Who: The Collection – Season 20 includes seven stories from 1983; Arc of Infinity, Snakedance, Mawdryn Undead, Terminus, Enlightenment, The King’s Demons and The Five Doctors. I just think there needs to be a serious re-engagement with fans and customers again – as I say, HMV are already way ahead on the ball with the Season 12 batch re-releases, that’s exactly what should be happening with every other previous set as far as I’m concerned. Studio Footage Immersive 5.1 Surround Sound Exclusive new surround mixes for Snakedance and The Five Doctors Distribution rights are split between two companies - Pandastorm Pictures (distributing stories featuring the Fourth through Eighth Doctors) and Polyband Media (distributing stories featuring the First through Third Doctors, as well as all modern-era stories). Jake E – As I said, alternatively just bring the Standards up to sync with Limiteds, instead of delaying the standard range by a year plus. Either way, this range needs some kind of marketing boost at the very, very least, though personally I would still prefer the Limiteds to be re-printed at least in small batches and simply brand them as “deluxe” or “luxury” versions.

I agree with you Darren, I’ll be going for the standards from now on. Aside from paper booklet any paper inlays, the rest of the actual casing can be easily replaced, though it’s just stronger, better to hold, open, shut. Same disc content, if not improved / corrected from any human-errors on the limiteds. Gordon: That would mean Mrs Coburn was still in charge until 2013, or an agent working for her, and most of these things last five or ten years. If a stream classes as a broadcast, and BBC4 could screen a repeat in 2013, there was probably something left over and junior had to wait. The other possibility is that they’re only now looking at the possibility of Coburn’s work being freelance, so certain rights stop being automatic. Region B release is a 3 disc set, and includes The Snowmen. US release is a 2 disc set, with The Snowmen released separately. I enjoy Tom’s era altogether entirely as a whole. Yes it has drab moments here and there but I find it overall to be the most consistently brilliant era of Classic Who. It has everything. Seasons 12-18 are so different to anything before and after. They build and expand on the qualities of Doctors 1-3 and pave the way for the stories of 5-7. Tom Baker’s era mixes the best of the 70’s and 80’s in a perfect blend of Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Gothic and traditional Horror, Satire, and Science fiction. Even to this day people still see Tom as the definition of The Doctor. He’s iconic. I do think WIS will be animated and released before the collection S5, while SP will be after the release of S6.It consisted of six serials comprised of twenty-two episodes. This was notable for the degree to which it varied from its original plans. It had been commissioned as a 28-part series, and the intent was that it would have actually been broadcast towards the end of 1982. Producer John Nathan-Turner had hoped to use season 20 as a way to reverse the January-March broadcast of season 19. Thus, he had initially obtained permission to record and broadcast season 20 in 1982, thus making season 21 broadcast over the milestone 23 November 1983. Had JN-T got his way, the twentieth anniversary special would have in fact been a part of the regular twenty- first season. The Collection - Season 14 (BBCBD0551) and Season 26 (BBCBD0552) were re-released in 2022 with standard Blu-ray cases. Got the uwm out in November. Should get an official announcement this month for smugglers animation. And next month celestial toymaker animation. I think the Massacre will be the last S3 story to be animated and after the release of the S3 collection (late 2027 or 2028), MM, DMP, CT and tS having been already animated and released as standalones. Occasionally, relevant additional material is included. For instance, season 18 also included K9 and Company, having aired in the gap between seasons 18 and 19, and season 19 included Time Crash. Notably, Season 17 included the 2017 animated reconstruction of Shada, split into six separate episodes as opposed to its initial feature-length release.
