Sonic toothbrushes are engineered to vibrate the brush filaments from side to side, and often resemble manual brushes with oval or diamond-shaped heads. These brushes are capable of vibrating up to ~40,000 per minute, depending on the model –meaning they move more rapidly than oscillating toothbrushes. Powerful vibrations force toothpaste and fluid between the teeth, granting a more comprehensive clean. Of course, one of the unique features of the Genius X is the charging travel case. It is similar in its operation to the charging stand, but the brush lays in the case rather than standing upright on the stand. Smaller and less unsightly, it is designed to sit on a worktop rather than adhere to a wall or mirror. You just need to pop your phone in it, which takes a couple of seconds compared to the tens of seconds with the Genius brush configuration. You phone then sits in portrait or landscape orientation and shows the on-screen timer. Manufactures, not just Oral-B often overstate the benefits of the additional modes. That is not to say they can’t be beneficial, but more beneficial is using the correct brushing technique and brushing for the right amount of time over which mode to use. For those who are interested, the power cord on the charging stand is about 90cm (3 feet) in length.

The next big difference is the battery life. The Pro 2 2000 has over twice the usage time. The Pro 600 will operate for 28 minutes, which is 7 days of cleaning based on one user. However the Pro 2 will last for 66 minutes which is 16 days of usage time. On many occasions, there was a noticeable lag in it detecting where the brush was or it was simply wrong. The Genius X travel case has a USB port to charge other devices such as a smartphone at the same time as you charge a toothbrush. The iO’s power2go case does not have this USB port. The verdict: Oral B genius X
The operation mode is also customizable via the Oral B app, allowing users to select their favorite color from one of 11 options. A big improvement, it means you can go between charges for longer and works better for those who travel and are away from power. Whilst there is a degree of clever AI software engineering going on here, being a cynic, this isn’t quite the AI that the likes of IBM Watson is employing. Of course, none of the AI is worth anything if the performance of the brush head, in combination with the efficiency of the motor, doesn’t combine to produce an all around clean, that’s powerful without being harsh.

The Genius X, is, in my opinion, the best looking toothbrushes that Oral-B have produced to date. This is in part helped I believe, by the colour choices that add a premium and classy look. Battery life isn’t up there with some Sonicare models – you’re looking at a recharge roughly every three weeks – but if you want the latest and greatest toothbrush tech for less, there’s no better buy. It offers a blend of features and functions that benefit us as users at a price that most will find affordable.liability whatsoever for any direct, indirect or consequential losses (in contract, tort or otherwise) It's not a true smart brush like the above Oral-B, as it has no sensor to detect mouth position, but it will flash if you put too much pressure on your gums and has both regular and sensitive modes. For thirty dollars, or the equivalent? It's excellent. Primarily all cardboard, it pleasing to see is that Oral-B has not opted for the polystyrene trays which are common on some of their cheaper models. In today’s world, there is no need for polystyrene.

Whilst each has its place within the market, it is the Pro Series that is the most logical option for the majority. As for the accessories, these are more or less the same, too. In addition to the standard charger, you get a luxury travel case that carries the handle with up to two heads and that also doubles up as a charger. Though there’s a USB slot on the case, don’t be fooled into thinking you can use it to charge the toothbrush, as I was. The clue is that it’s a USB-A connection, which means you can use it to top up the battery in your phone or another device as your brush charges. Perfecting your brushing routine, including the brushing time, technique and frequency will bring more positive benefit than any particular toothbrush. It’s a bit of a hassle as you need to stand almost perfectly still in front of your camera and a smartphone holder like this is not what most of us want in a bathroom.information obtained or derived from third party sources or statistical services.
