About this deal

For the sake of you guys not knowing the boy's name I'm going to call him the same way the manga called him. He likes to read novels and prefers to stay alone than having friends as he sees no reason in having any. He is surprised by Sakura's behaviour as it is completely different from what you would expect from someone who suffers from a disease slowly killing her. He increasingly cares for her and becomes more and more attached to her as the story develops. An interesting character as well, as he is the one who learns most in this story. Now on to the story. See the reason I put [No Name]-Kun is because our hero doesn't give his name out. Well he does, but every time someone says it he pictures hearing what THEY think of him. So it makes for some funny scenes, and at the same time makes you feel awful for him. This is a clever story idea, similar to Silent Voice (another great manga) in which the character when looking at faces sees a huge X on them because he's too scared to actually look them in the face after being bullied for so long. So when No Name-kun finds the diary of Sakura and learns she has this disease she decides to befriend him completely. Seeing as he'll be the ONLY one she knows besides her direct family that knows about her dying.

I want to clear this up first. You may want to know why the title of this manga is like a horror manga title. For that, I must take a little extract from the manga/novel: She has been diagnosed with a fatal condition involving her pancreas. She knows she doesn't have much time left. Probably less than a year. But she's still full of energy and vigor. She wants to keep living her life until it's over. Death can come for all of us at any time. She's just more aware of this than most others. If someone in the past had a part of their body that wasn’t well, they would eat the corresponding part of another animal.” - Sakura a b Ressler, Karen (March 15, 2018). "Seven Seas Licenses I Want to Eat Your Pancreas Novel, Manga". Anime News Network . Retrieved March 15, 2018.

This book doesn't cover up the fact, or say maybe it'll turn around, that our main heroine is going to pass away. But the amazing thing the book does is take you on a life, however short it is, to see how you can enjoy it. And it gives you a reason to question what life means to you, and the people around you. It hits every single emotional bit it is supposed to. The friend's action, Kyoko sometimes displaying an act of immaturity and childishness when he didn't even do anything which I do at times find unreasonable, but that didn't make her a bad person as I thought she would be. Well, you see, right when the writing has been going from the “alright” to the “meh” territory and I was contemplating whether to rate this 5 or 6, the finale came around. Ironically, I’d say it was thanks to the novel being so self-aware about how everyone saw the conclusion of terminal illness coming. Thanks to confessing right from the start what is going to happen the story was able to go a bit further than being just a generic final moments of a patient melodrama. A finale that was surprisingly nicely executed with well done emotional pay-off. Now, as much as I would love to write in greater detail about it, I would also like to not rob you of the opportunity to experience it first-hand, so you’ll have to be satisfied with me not spelling everything out. What’s important is that I was suddenly contemplating not between 5 or 6, but between 6 or 7. And I’m possibly getting soft as “good” it is. There, I didn’t completely trash a mostly sentimental piece of fiction, save your booing for later.

I'll say this right now the story, character, and art are superb. I firmly enjoyed this story...until a certain point. I won't give direct spoilers but the writers ruined the story with a
