About this deal

Still, to give Chameleon some credit, the menus are well designed and the display is a breeze to use - once you get it working - so it’s not all bad. I just wish I could say more… Tesco Mobile is to start charging new and recently joining pay-monthly customers to use their mobiles in Europe from 2024. UK Fuel Mix disclosure information published by Government Department DESNZ (PDF, 173 KB), recognises electricity from wind, solar and nuclear fuel produces zero carbon dioxide emissions at the point of generation.

The extent of Smart Meter data you can see, how soon you can see it and its granularity depends on whether you have a CAD or not. It’s also important for me to mention that this review is written completely independently of OVO and Chameleon in my personal capacity as a forum volunteer. All views are my own and should be treated as such. A radiator thermostat is essential to tailor how hot your radiators heat up to, but a smart thermostat is the latest must-have. This innovative device enables you to control multiple radiators, and zones, all of which can be managed via an app. It also details the energy output and temperature, so you can be mindful of how hot your house is - and whether you really need the heating on.I guess I'll just put a current clamp to get my realtime measurements, and forget about this UK smart meter non-sense. Or wait that Hildebrand manages to get their product and supply working hopefully one day. Firstly, what is the ivie Bud exactly? Well, it’s a Chameleon IHD that’s branded as being ivie as part of this new venture Chameleon are working on. Physically the ivie Bud looks very much like the existing IHD6 and it basically is - except that it’s actually a re-badged Chameleon IHD7-CAD-PPMID v1.2. More on that later. Your IHD receives data from the comms hub mounted on the top of your electricity meter more frequently. Electricity meter data is received every 10 seconds and the gas every 30 minutes. The gas meter is battery powered so the communications frequency is kept low to improve battery life. It’s been less than 12 months since I had the IHD OR I’ve never had one at all, what’s my best option? The comms hub uses the Wide Area Network (WAN) to talk to the company responsible for collecting the data and passing it on to other businesses such as suppliers; for the latest SMETS 2 meters this company will be the DCC (Data Communications Company) which the government has set up especially for this role.Lucy Joss, from the Insights team at Energy Saving Trust gave us five top tips for keeping the cost of bills down and saving energy at home. Sure thing! It’s definitely a service we can provide here. 🙂 We’ve got lots of smart meter model guides listed here. If you can’t find a guide that matches your meter type, please post photos of your current meters, Comms Hub and (if you have one) IHD. We’ll be able to use these photos to figure out what you’ve got and can then advise you which options are likely to work. We don’t have a magic crystal ball or x-ray vision though sadly, so there’s no other way for us to identify your meters without photos or a description of the meters. Oh dear! Earlier I wrote “ After one hour, I can’t praise this highly enough and hope my mind isn’t changed during the forthcoming hours, days and weeks. Highly recommended . “ If you're a regular Superdrug shopper, you can now earn more freebies and discounts under its Health & Beautycard loyalty scheme, as the retailer has launched new 'VIP Rewards' as part of it.

Its advantages over the Bright app are that its real or near real time whereas Bright app isn't and, in my experience, reports data from up to several hours ago even when refreshed multiple times. Bright is useful for historic data and graphs but I actually find Guy Lipmans program more useful for the same purpose. A Consumer Access Device or CAD is a cloud-connected secure smart meter gateway device that accesses real-time energy data from smart meters and sends that data to a designated cloud service. I've been designing and selling electronic devices. I just talked about bluetooth and mobile app, because bluetooth is still much cheaper than wifi, so it could be use for device activation. But anyway, it's much easier to just use your supplier already configured IHD, than useless Wifi/Cloud IHD which won’t allow to act as a CAD. Access to your meter readings and more detailed consumption data from your Smart Meter was not a priority for the Smart Metering Programme, so it has taken a few years for services to become available. The concept from the beginning was for third parties to provide Consumer Access Devices (CAD) to allow customers to retrieve their own data.

As usual, if your IHD can only see your electricity readings and not the gas, it's likely loop will only provide your electricity readings. Samsung today announced the launch of SmartThings Energy in the UK, a world-first service that will allow UK households to manage their energy usage, with any UK provider, directly from their phones, and completely free of charge. SmartThings Energy is powered by Chameleon Technology, Samsung’s data partner since 2019. See smart meter data, costs and budgets all from a smartphone For me though, the biggest let down relates primarily to the fact that the ivie Bud feels too much like a watered down Chameleon IHD6 with little else thrown in. Chances are that won’t be a problem for most people, but for me, when I’ve already got two full-fat IHD6, I really don’t want a watered down one as it’s a major downgrade over the Kecleon Brothers.
