When it comes to finding the best robotic lawnmower for your lawn, it’s important to consider the size and layout of your lawn, as well as the features and functions that meet your requirements. With robotic lawnmowers ranging from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds, it’s essential to find one that fits your budget and provides years of trouble-free mowing. John Deere is actually an agricultural brand but they do make robotic lawn mowers including the Tango E5. What do I mean by this? Well, unlike most robotic mowers, this one isn’t designed to be left outside all the time. It’s a drop and go machine which can be charged indoors and then you simply need to pop it on the ground and let it do its thing. There are many advantages to this which I’ll dive into in my LawnMaster VBRM16 review.
The blades on any lawn mower have the potential to cause a serious injury so I was pleased to see that the LawnMaster VBRM16 comes with a lift and tilt sensor. While the LawnMaster VBRM16 is a pretty simple piece of equipment in the scheme of things, it does have a good number of features, especially when you consider the low price. You can see these features in more detail in my video review but let me talk you through them now. Height Adjustment The LawnMaster L10 is unusual among robot lawnmowers in that it doesn’t give you much control. As with most robot mowers around this price, it follows a random pattern around your lawn, using the principle that if it keeps mowing it will cover the entire lawn eventually. There’s no complicated setup, no need to update software and no need to install a boundary wire. All you need to do is charge the battery, insert it and then press the ‘on’ button and choose your mowing mode. There is an auto-mow or a spot cut mode; just press and hold the button to select your mode and the robot will do the rest. One last thing that’s worth noting is that the battery is sealed into the device, with no obvious way of getting in to remove or replace it.Additional batteries can extend running time (sold separately). Battery duration depends on lawn conditions. It’s designed to cut up to 100m² and has a 16cm cutting width. Combine this with the four hour run time, which I’ll talk more about shortly, and you’ve got something that’s going to deliver an even cut without running out of power.
You will likely have a range of objects, people and pets on your lawn at any one time and it’s incredibly important for the safe operation of the mower, so you will be pleased to know that at a minimum all robotic mowers will have bump sensors fitted. Higher end robot mowers will also feature object avoidance which will prevent them from bumping / colliding with anything left on the lawn. Cutting Height Some of this comes from the comparatively sparse box. Where most robots are supplied with charging stations, pegs and rolls of boundary wire, the VBRM16’s accessories are minimal. There is a charger for the battery but it’s a standalone device about the size of a tub of margarine, which can be stored anywhere and plugged in as needed. The removable battery is also in the box and needs charging before the mower’s first use.

The great thing about the LawnMaster VBRM16 is that the manufacturer has carefully combined the blade width and run time to ensure the mower covers up to 100 square metres in one go.
The LawnMaster VBRM16 cuts in a random pattern. When you turn it on, it’ll start mowing in a forwards direction and will then move around the lawn. When it reaches a boundary or an obstacle, the LawnMaster VBRM16 will turn to cut in another direction. Robotic lawn mowers are becoming ever more popular and in the last few months, boundary wireless models are flying off the shelves. However, the problem is that many of these GPS mowers are incredibly expensive. So, if you’re looking to just test the water, spending all of that money can feel like a no go.Part of the MX 24V Shared Battery System. As you can see from the information above, there are a lot of options when it comes to robot mowers with each manufacturer competing to bring you the best product. All of the brands I have mentioned above are excellent and I’d have very little problem recommending them. However, you must keep in mind that we all have differing needs so what I might find useful in a robot mower, you may not need.
