About this deal

Kids love choosing and pressing forest souvenirs. It’s so easy to collect and press leaves. The techniques are simple and easy to follow. It's a great way to make memories from a special day. What to look for

The Little Yellow Leaf- Little yellow leaf is not quite ready to fall with the other leaves. After mustering up enough courage, she does find a way to float down to the ground. 11. Fall Leaves Washed in by the tide, a polar bear arrives on the shores of a northern forest and settles in an abandoned cave. You know a book has you hooked when your heart is in your throat and you are really, really hoping it doesn't have a sad ending. At its heart Leaf has a number of simple but key messages to draw out - reaching out to outsiders, loneliness, and protecting the environment. Leaf collects leaves to make wings so that he can fly home to his family from whom he was separated because of the melting ice. And that's all it says. There is no lecturing or overt nagging, just a simple message conveyed through the eyes of a lonely polar bear. It provokes key discussion and questions about why the ice has melted, how Leaf might have become separated from his family, what the animals did to help, and what else could be done to help.

I love this fall kids craft because it covers lots of bases. From getting some fresh air outside while they hunt for leaves, to the hands-on activity of creating leaf rubbings, to putting it all together in their very own “leaf book,” this activity will keep your kids busy all afternoon. And whether they want to keep the book for themselves or give it to grandma as a gift, there are so many opportunities to teach while you’re creating the leaf book together. Help them learn about different types of trees, about the change of seasons, about art techniques like making rubbings and book binding, and so much more. Supplies: One day, the polar bear Leaf arrives at the coast of the temperate climate wilderness. The first reaction of the animals is fear and confusion, but eventually, they overcome their own fears, and they help Leaf. I really appreciate this, especially now with the refugee crisis. I think to be afraid of the unknown is a normal thing for humans, but often I see not the most helpful attitude towards this fear. We should not shun each other for that; we should approach each other with an open mind and willingness to talk and listen. If there is anyone who deserves to be condemned, it's the politicians who feed and then build their careers on this fear instead of doing something meaningful.

Okay, here I am again, not liking a popular Lois Ehlert book. It just didn’t strike us. The pictures were too crowded and BIG, so that it was hard to find what our eyes were supposed to find – objects made from leaves. But you may feel differently, which is why I’m including it. As the year draws to a close, you might think outdoor activities are off the table, but don’t be too hasty! Leaf pressing is a brilliant activity for autumn and early winter. Get out and capture the quiet beauty of the trees and plants in nature. Ready, set, press! Arrange your leaves on one side of the paper, then close the fold, sandwiching your leaves between the halves. What a beautiful sequence of story and visuals as the other animals are deciding whether or not to care, whether or not to help.
