LaFeber’s examination of Nike and its particular dominion over the global marketplace is often scathing, while his fascinating mini-biography of Michael Jordan and the commercial history of basketball reveal much about American society. Michael Jordan: Life Lessons from His Airness by David H. Lewis With the possible exceptions of boxer Muhammad Ali and baseball player Babe Ruth, no athlete has made a greater impact on American society – or in the world – than Michael Jordan. Follow the life of one of the most recognizable athletes and living brands inside this engaging and balanced biography. Tinker Hatfield did a great job explaining much of what went into each Jordan shoe ranging from events happening in Jordan's life, to changing the material to increase the basketball shoe durability. I was surprised to learn that Tinker Hatfield did not start designing the Jordan shoe till III, which is when it started to get good. Furthermore, that Jordan had to use a new pair for each game until Jordan XI came out. The book also talks a lot about the evolution of 'Brand Jordan' and how building on the Jordan line it came to stand on its own. There are countless books on Michael Jordan, and it comes with good reason, he is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, and helped popularize the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s – becoming a global cultural icon in the process.

In Michael Jordan: The Life, Lazenby draws on his personal relationships with Jordan’s coaches; countless interviews with Jordan’s friends, teammates, and family members; and interviews with Jordan himself to provide the first truly definitive study of Michael Jordan: the player, the icon, and the man. The Shrug. The Shot. The Flu Game. Michael Jordan is responsible for sublime moments so ingrained in sports history that they have their own names. When most people think of him, they think of his beautiful shots with the game on the line, his body totally in sync with the ball -- hitting nothing but net. Forged successful teams out of players of varying abilities by getting them to trust one another and perform in sync. i didnt dislike anything in this book because there were so many things that related to me on how he loves a sport so much and how he wanted to be successful at it and it gave me more and more ideas on how i can keep loving the game i love.

The long-awaited premiere of ESPN’s The Last Dance has finally arrived. With the NBA season indefinitely postponed and not likely to return anytime soon, this is the most exciting event for NBA fans since games were called off last month (all due respect to the NBA 2K and Horse tournaments, of course). If The Last Dance has piqued your curiosity and a 10-hour documentary covering Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls is not enough to satiate your desire for Michael Jordan related content, here are five books about Jordan that should help keep you entertained between episodes. Playing for Keeps: Michael Jordan and the World He Made by David Halberstam The Jordan Rules chronicles the season that changed everything for Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. After losing in the playoffs to the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons for three consecutive years, the Bulls finally broke through and swept the Pistons in the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals, on the way to their first NBA championship. This list of books covers the life and career of Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players of all time. It includes biographies, autobiographies, and other books about his life. the most important thing i liked about this book was that it helped me understand that even when you fail at something you keep trying until you succeed at it but while you fail you should always love the game for what it is not for what you want it to be. another thing i liked about this booked was that Michael Jordan became more of an inspiration to me because he wrote about all his experiences in detail and that helped me learn from things that i may come up against and will help me alot in the future for my own sporting career. Jordan’s impact off the court has been equally profound. He was an inspiration to many, and his influence transcended basketball. His brand of clothing, shoes, and other products have become iconic symbols of success and style. His philanthropic work has also made a positive impact on many people’s lives. One of the few books Michael Jordan has ever written an editorial review for, Jordan tells readers, “I consider Tim Grover to be second to none in his knowledge of sports training, and he was an invaluable part of my training program. He is a take-charge person, with a deliberate but energetic and enthusiastic technique.” But for all his greatness, this scion of a complex family from North Carolina's Coastal Plain has a darker side: he's a ruthless competitor and a lover of high stakes. There's never been a biography that encompassed the dual nature of his character and looked so deeply at Jordan on and off the court -- until now. In critique, I thought this book was long (although very readable) and would like to see a condensed version sometime in the future. While waiting for the next installment of The Last Dance to arrive, here are five books you can read to fill your Michael Jordan fix.

Despite an unbelievably competitive nature on the court, Jordan is his mother's "laziest child," paying others to do his chores and holding a paying job for only one week. His competitive light came on only in sports. The legend of Michael being left off his high school varsity team is explored, that is somewhat of a complicated story but the logic made sense at the time. Basketball journalist Roland Lazenby spent almost thirty years covering Michael Jordan's career in college and the pros. He witnessed Jordan's growth from a skinny rookie to the instantly recognizable global ambassador for basketball whose business savvy and success have millions of kids still wanting to be just like Mike. Yet Lazenby also witnessed the Michael Jordan whose drive and appetite are more fearsome and more insatiable than any of his fans could begin to know. Michael Jordan: The Life explores both sides of his personality to reveal the fullest, most compelling story of the man who is Michael Jordan. In Driven from Within, Michael makes it clear that the basis for his phenomenal success came from the inside out, thanks in part to those who guided him along the way. His skill, work ethic, philosophy, personal style, competitiveness, and presence have flowed from the basketball court into every facet of his life. The List of Books About Michael Jordan is a compilation of biographies, autobiographies, autobiographical novels, and other works about the life and career of the basketball legend. The list is intended to provide an overview of the available materials on the former Chicago Bulls star, and to help researchers, fans, and casual readers alike find the best books about Michael Jordan. It includes works written by Jordan himself, as well as books about him by journalists, biographers, and other authors. The list is meant to be comprehensive, so it includes books from all eras of Jordan’s career, from his college days to his retirement in 2003.Una obra apasionante de Mr. Lazenby que, con una documentación brutal sobre el tema, nos comparte toda la complejidad de la personalidad, ideología, hechos y momentos que hicieron de "Su Majestad" uno de los atletas más grande de la historia del deporte y del marketing mundial. i was drawn to this book because i am a great Michael Jordan fan and i wondered if he could write well and also be an amazing athlete. In Playing for Keeps, Halberstam takes the first full measure of Jordan’s epic career, one of the great American stories of our time. A narrative of astonishing power and human drama, brimming with revealing anecdotes and penetrating insights, the book chronicles the forces in Jordan’s life that have shaped him into history’s greatest basketball player and the larger forces that have converged to make him the most famous living human being in the world.
