Just like the Cloud Up 1, this tent is easy to set up, affordable, and reliable. You’ll be grateful for the extra floor space to spread out, but with only one door and vestibule, I’d recommend going for a different tent if two adults will be sharing the space. I love that this tent is easy to set up, affordable, and reliable in rainy weather. It makes enjoying the outdoors more accessible for everyone, even if you don’t have tons of money or camping experience. It has some really cool features to optimize comfort. For example, small magnets are sewn into the door fabric to make coming and going as easy as possible. You can also set up a little sheltered foyer with your trekking poles by slotting them into the notches in the tent door. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this tent so great. First of all, the Cloudup 2 is made with waterproof and breathable fabric, so you can stay dry even if it rains. Plus, the mesh wall panels provide excellent ventilation, in hopes that you won’t overheat on those hot summer days. It’ll be fine for weekend trips but it’s not the best choice for long-distance thru-hiking. It would certainly be a fantastic choice for bike touring, though it’d be a good idea to share the tent weight with the person you’ll be sleeping next to. Naturehike has expanded its business to 72 countries across the globe, including North America, Western Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. They also have solid markets in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America, and their primary aim is to become the largest provider of lightweight but sturdy tents. Design and How to Set Up What attracted me to the Naturehike Cloud Up in the first place was its design. It’s incredibly similar (read: virtually identical) to the well-rated – but very expensive – Big Agnes Fly Creek. The design of the tent involves a single-pole construction. That being said, this tent is nice and ventilated for the summer months. You can just pitch up the interior for an extremely breathable sleeping compartment and save the rainfly for colder and wetter nights. Portability There are some other differences, like that the CloudUp 2 uses seven clips instead of six, doesn’t have guylines attached to the tent body, and has 14 stakes instead of 11. Just be cautious before use in extended downpours, and make sure to spray the tent with an extra waterproof coating on a regular basis. So long as you use your groundsheet, regularly respray with a waterproof coating, and take a little care when you set up the tent, it should last for many camping adventures. Sadly, we were disappointed by the Naturehike Cloud UP in terms of ease of setup. To be clear, it uses a very similar structure to many of the other tents in this round up, and on a fundamental level, it’s no more difficult to setup than these, but none the less, we hit problems: the written instructions and diagrams provided with the tent were very scant and, in fact, we found the diagrams confused matters at points. As mentioned above, the tent is asymmetric in form, but there’s no coding that we could see to help correctly orient the frame over the body or the fly over the top. You’d surely get used to this if you used the tent regularly, but from the perspective of a user who is either new to camping or only camps occasionally, none of this is helpful and indeed it could cause some serious delays if you’re trying to setup the tent whilst tired or in poor weather. One thing we’d suggest any owner of the Cloud UP do is to add some colour coding to the poles and fasteners on the tent body and fly sheet to speed up the pitching process.
Front vestibules: It makes the inner space larger, and personal hiking gear can also be placed in the front door area. What’s unique about Naturehike is that the company’s tents offer an outstanding balance between price and quality. They aren’t the cheapest tents on the market but they are considerably more waterproof, more windproof, and lighter than their competitors. This tent will keep you warm and dry for a weekend trip in foul weather but it’s not going to perform as well as the Hilleberg at high altitudes or in extreme climates, so don’t let appearances fool you. If there is one thing to expect from tents made by Naturehike, it is their sturdy and durable quality of materials. This tent has a 20D nylon-silica rain fly and groundsheet to prevent you from getting wet and keep you warm during inclement conditions. Additionally, it contains 210T polyester plaid fabric to make it sturdy, breathable, and rainproof. I’ve been doing more cold-weather camping recently and two adult winter sleeping bags won’t fit in the Cloud Up 2. I spend a lot of time looking at lightweight 3p tents and couldn’t find anything else that I liked and was affordable. So, I ended up getting the Cloud Up 3p too.When it comes to weight, price and quality, you really can’t do much better than the Naturehike Cloud Up 2. However, the tent is definitely cramped inside. If you want something roomier but which is still this light, then get the Cloud Up 3P– or be prepared to spend a lot more.
