The configuration of each ‘Dental Care Journey’ is different. However, each one enables and disables different cleaning modes on the toothbrush handle. Oral-B has added value to the iO9 by including two additional brush heads for a total of four. The iO8 meanwhile, now comes with three brush heads in total.

The Smart 6’s brush head holder is a moulded piece of plastic that clips around the charging stand and offers up 2 prongs. The brush heads then sit on these. It keeps them upright and they do not touch, but they are not covered like they are with the compartment with the 9000, which can accommodate up to 4 brush heads. The Smart 6 travel case is better than some of the cheaper models. It is a white colour and is fairly robust.

One of the biggest differences is that the Pro 2 2000, which is the more premium model offers an extra cleaning mode. To make it easy to find brushes with a particular cleaning mode we have compiled the lists below, complete with a link to our review. Models like the 8 and 9 Series do have extra cleaning modes compared to the 3, 4 and 5. But, these modes don’t change the actual cleaning results.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the icons are not all that logical with multiple icons lit for specific modes. Aside from the colour of the brush the physical size and shape are identical and you would not be able to tell the two apart unless you noticed the additional cleaning mode icon found on the 9000.

The 600 comes in light Blue or Pink whilst the Pro 2 2000 comes in a dark Blue or Pink. Both have gloss white plastic bodies.
