About this deal

These LED rings make it easy to see your settings on dark stages, indicating the currently selected parameters' values. The eight Global knobs can access four banks of controls; the eight Track knobs control nine different track parameters each. My efforts are in direct response to something sold to me that was buggy, a resource hog, contained advertisements (bloatware), and didn't suit my needs.

Ableton Live software is a powerful, flexible environment for creating, performing, and producing music. It mostly looks like it offers the same level of control as before, but that's not a bad thing because it was working pretty well! As i've yet to see another template or device that can stably set Loop points, especially in the manner that we did it, and so i was concerned from your video that you'd used our code directly. First-time setup is literally three steps: load Ableton Live, plug in and power up your APC40, and select the APC40 as Ableton Live's controller.I'm sure you'll understand if you had nothing to hide you would have shared, especially as you were launching your template as a commercial venture which it now seems is open source.

The bulky bevelled surround is gone, and the launch pads are now slim rectangles instead of squares, trimming the size in all dimensions. It’s compatible with ALL MIDI capable software (just remember that Ableton Live ‘may’ not correctly work with ARC running as we use three of the default buttons). This USB-powered Ableton Live controller serves up 40 clip-launch controls arranged into a 5 x 8 matrix that's perfect for live performance or remixing. This allows the pads to reflect clip colours from Live, as well as to show which clips are playing or recording. The APC 40 MKII is the easy choice for your next Ableton Live controller because Akai Professional focused the APC 40 MKII design to pick up where the original left off. APC40 mkII is equipped with an array of assignable controls: nine faders and eight channel control knobs, plus a further eight device control knobs enable hands-on parameter tweaking and mixer control. The Akai APC40 MKII improves on almost every aspect of the APC40 MKI, packing everything you need for next level Ableton performances into a controller you can fit in your backpack. Designed in partnership with Ableton, the APC40 is the most advanced Live controller for the most advanced performers.

The big players like Novation, and Akai themselves, have been through some changes since 2009 - Live itself has moved on, the iPad has risen as a serious control option, and of course, there's Push. The package includes a USB cable, and a registration card for the software bundle, which includes Ableton Live Lite, 5GB of loop content, and the Hybrid and Twist soft synths; all of the range has roughly the same extras. Additionally, there are also now dedicated Bank buttons for flipping the controls through multiple parameter pages.

The APC40 works for the performer, somebody who is more focused on control and clip launching rather than creating new parts. Have Push encoders controlling the eightknobs device and find that sometimes if parameter is turned on before Deck Send pot is turned that sometimes the effect does not activate/become apparent. If Isotonik works sensationally for others, that’s awesome, but on all of my desktops and laptops it has been a kludge. The APC40 comes with Ableton Live Akai Professional APC40 Edition software, which is fully functional for performance and production. I ported everything over and took advantage of the RGB buttons to add some more fun to the template.

The control surface has been reorganised in key areas - the device control knobs stay put, but the pan/send knobs are relocated above the grid of clip launch buttons, in line above the track faders. The MkII has more in common with modern music tech commodities that spend most of their time in the studio. I worked on custom remote scripts for the APC40, tried manipulating the MIDI I/O on my computer, and a good bunch of other plugins/templates. This latest iteration brings expanded functionality and capability with an improved workflow thanks to new features like the RGB clip-launching grid, reinforced fader design, revised knob layout, and more. I wasn’t going to talk much about my methods to a commercial developer until I had released everything open source, so I kept mum.It includes momentary effects, fixed clip launch buttons, native looping, effects reset buttons, send toggles, and some workflow enhancements. Reason+ is a creative bundle for music making that includes the Reason DAW and the Reason Rack Plugin which can be used in any DAW (VST3/AU/AAX). This is incredibly affordable, but does come with some sacrifices: the build quality is lower, and the launch buttons are only tri–colour (Yellow, Green, Red), like the original APC. From my download records you hadn't updated the template to the latest version, so your comments on Isotonik are dated.
