It is perhaps the AE1200’s defining feature, and the 12-year-old boy in me (who is closer to the surface than I would care to admit) delighted in playing with it. The world time on the 1300 IMO is a little better as it shows the second time zone on top of your current time zone.

The dial dimensions are small enough but because of the way the strap is attached to the edge of the dial(u know, like it's been screwed to the case), it doesn't fully wrap around my wrist but instead, leaves a gap. While the two square models (1200/1300) are a little better with 2 LED lights, all the round models have only 1 LED and give obviously uneven lighting across the face of the watch. Sadly, I had forgotten that acetone, the key ingredient, is the natural enemy of all manner of coatings and plastics. Of course, for as crazy as that sounds, you have to remember that the Casio AE1200 retails for peanuts, so if I find something else that might be fun to throw at it, I’d be a fool not to.

I had no idea such a thing was possible when I bought my first AE1200, but an Instagram follower mentioned it in response to the first Casio picture I posted, recommending Kranio Design. For the AE-1200 model, I felt that the display of the day of the week was somewhat less readable and also, found the analog display to be a waste of space(world map didn't seem to be of much use either). I’ll admit that I miss the subtle shape of the Casio case’s button nacelles, but the deletion of the text, dimples, and molding lines more than makes up for it. All of the operations in this section are performed in the World Time Mode, which you enter by pressing C.

Still, assuming no butterfingered bobbles, the watch has proven to be watertight under normal conditions. This watch will accept standard 16mm Casio adapters and can have a Nato or Zulu straps installed no problem.It’s not a copy, but there are certain key elements that connect the two, most notably, the “radar” in the top left (a clock on the Casio, a stopwatch on the Seiko, and a tracking device in the movie), the beveled black bezel with its clipped corners, and the raised nacelles for the four function buttons. I find AE-1200 very nice watch and also suitable for thin wrists despite its big size (I have both - thin wrist and the watch). My 1200 that had the green fabric straps I replaced with an extra set of straps for the AE-1300 and cleaned up the case a bit just for fun. I did find the presence of multiple timers in 1300 to be a plus point since we wouldn't have to go to the settings and change the timer interval each time.
