The first time I listened to it I was driving between my apartment and my parents house in the snow. Airing December 9, 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas captured nearly half of the nation’s TV audience and garnered broad critical acclaim. While TV executives were wary of the unconventional special, which featured the voices of child actors, a jazz score, and no laugh track (among other concerns), their worries proved to be unfounded – and then some. For this one-time only 2022 printing, the jacket has been wrapped in a gold foil while the embossed Peanuts characters and tree have never appeared more striking. I chose this version, as the stamper labels are the same, but it has the reissue cover art Vince Guaraldi Trio - A Charlie Brown Christmas.
