The second movie is set on a Greek island where a wealthy tech billionaire invites his friends out for a getaway. Among the guests, whose names hardly register, Kate Hudson is vibrant as a once-famous fashion model with a tendency to blunder her way into saying and tweeting ethnic slurs. The other thing that gets me genuinely excited is Knives Out and Glass Onion are so different, and that’s something that harkens back to Christie in another way. During the party, Duke saw a news report of Andi's death and, realizing that Miles was responsible, attempted to blackmail him. This is most evident during the scene where Miles intentionally poisons Duke with pineapple-laced whiskey.

Filled with delicious cameos and loaded with more comic moments than the previous film – even a slow trickle of hot sauce becomes suspenseful and funny ­­– Glass Onion brings in a new cast of suspects, puts them on a billionaire's private island in Greece, and sends in Blanc to figure out what they're all up to. The film received a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 95th Academy Awards, and received numerous other accolades. As an indictment of the way extreme wealth corrupts, this whole exercise is pretty obvious, and it fits securely within a series of recent satires (“ Triangle of Sadness,” “ The Menu”) that aim at some easy targets, albeit with copious wit and style.

It’s hard to keep track of all the release dates for a movie but Knives Out stands out in this area due to the fact that it’s the first movie to debut in all three major US theatrical chains which are AMC, Regal, and Cinemark before going global with a Netflix release. Johnson later stated that though he had approved the subtitle of A Knives Out Mystery for Glass Onion, he would like to rename the series and add A Benoit Blanc Mystery as subtitles to future installments. The murder mystery game was a huge hit during the pandemic and given we're in whodunnit territory, it's also a very apt choice of game. The 95th Academy Awards loom in the distance and film fans couldn’t be more excited since the nominations were announced on Tuesday, January 24th 2023.

Filled with antics, twists, untrustworthy suspects and charismatic detectives, murder mysteries always make for entertaining watches. Film director Johnson, now at the centre of the burgeoning international Knives Out movie franchise, started out just this way, he has revealed, reading Christie stories as a young person and then penning his own tentative efforts.
