Some tension/peril when Joy and Sadness are sucked into the memory core and journey back to HQ (bridges/islands crumble, a train tumbles over a precipice, characters fall deep down into Riley's memory dump, the subconscious is dark and scary, etc.

As Riley’s childhood imaginary best friend, he’s become a part of her past, something only vaguely remembered. Pixar, always with an eye for a bit of cleverness, manages to capture both of those phenomena at once. Demi both owned and took responsibility for her mistakes, but never placed the blame squarely on her shoulders, because as the saying goes, ‘It Takes Two to Tango’. However, his Anger emotion is incredibly proud of the entire thing, with this quote hilariously summing it all up.She seems to be in a pretty good place right now and I would imagine writing this memoir proved to be a cathartic experience. Spoiler alert: A key character ceases to exist; he doesn't die so much as fade away, but it's clear he's permanently gone. And parents will be reminded that asking kids to put on a happy face when they don't really feel it can lead to unintended pressure and worry. What’s really powerful about this film is how accurate it is to cognitive, developmental, and clinical psychology. Long may she continue to find happiness, peace, and acceptance of the things she cannot change, because she deserves it.

Of all 5 of Riley’s emotions, Joy seems to be the leader, she keeps the others in check but reminds the viewers that all of them have an important function.Spoiler alert: One key character also permanently fades from existence; that and scenes in which it seems Riley is "borrowing" her mom's credit card and running away are definitely upsetting. When I think of Demi Moore I always think of the movie Ghost, which is equal parts sad and uplifting, much like this book.

But the film makes it look as if we are controlled by emotions, and it is circumstances which control us through our emotional responses to them. I realize that the end of their marriage was one of the more difficult periods of her life and that there may be some resentment. While the emotional side of his story is obviously very well known, there's no doubt that his catchy song is one of the best quotes from the movie.While she goes into warts-and-all descriptions of her young life, she is more circumspect in describing her marriage to Bruce Willis and Ashton Kushner. She spoke so beautifully of her three husbands, she pointed out her mistakes, their mistakes and the reasons why everything happened. Back when Demi started her career the press/paparazzi, and now social media, are there to document every single beautiful and ugly moment.

That's really the only instance in which I felt there was more to the story that she wasn't willing to share.

Unfortunately, Joy’s good intentions backfire when Riley is unable to receive the support she so desperately needs to help her with adjusting to her new environment. Essentially, Riley’s mom, without meaning to do so, communicates to Riley that being sad about the move was not ok and that she needs to pretend to be happy to support her father through this. This is the first line in the beginning of this Pixar movie, in which the audience is made aware that they are about to be taken inside the mind of a girl.
