We developed the Kestrel 1000 Pocket Wind Meter in 1995 when NK’s co-founder, Richard Kellerman, needed a reliable wind meter for flying his glider. The Kestrel 1000 is more expensive than most other wind meters we’ve seen, but we think the added cost is worth it. However, the Kestrel 5000 with LiNK and Kestrel 3500 (no connectivity) are definitely decent alternatives. The free Kestrel LiNK app gives you full access to advanced tools, including shareable reports, custom display options, threshold alerts, snapshot capture, and data visualization.

Compact in design the Kestrel 1000 utilises high precision bearings and a lightweight rotating impeller to deliver exact airflow measurements even at lower wind speeds.
