About this deal

It has a very entertaining plot, but also teaches some great lessons in rhyming, word play, and manners. As the parent of two little boys who are afraid of the dark, this book was much needed in my household. They have good intentions, but it can often be hard for some children to stay on task and do what is expected of them. As Clark has done before, he uses a rhyme to help him not be afraid of the dark that child readers of this book may be able to adopt to help them also get over their fears. This story teaches children not to make fun of friends who have different views on things, but instead to support them and help them through any challenges that they face.

I like that children can relate to Clark and his friends and I would love to read the other books in the series. An engaging story about learning some self-control, while also staying true to yourself, Clark the Shark highlights the important idea that sometimes behavioral problems at school are the product of too much energy, and illustrates the fact that children can learn the skills necessary to not disrupt their classrooms. The book tells the tale of a friendly shark who cleans up litter from the sea and promotes environmental awareness. For Clark the Shark he has a real problem with boundaries and knowing when to curb his enthusiasm a bit.

This book is a wonderful way to spark children's curiosity and love for nature while also promoting important values like kindness, empathy, and environmental stewardship.

Clark the Shark" is a book with a full circle idea that showcases how the proper approach can have a person learn then understand enough to assist someone else because they were having the same struggles, themselves. A lesson idea to use with this book is to have the students create their own rhymes that will help them when they are scared or worried about something. Clark has some impulse control issues, but with the help of his teacher, he is able to reign his energy in and become a better student and friend to his classmates.

I was excited over the idea of seeing what elementary school could be like for underwater creatures. Clark the Shark is having a sleepover, and it's the first time him and his friends will sleep outside in the dark. So we were really excited when Natalie contacted us to let us know about their brand new book, Lark the Shark and Wonda the Whale. It is a good example of what rules and behaviour can be expected when at school such as using indoor voices appropriately, to respecting other pupils and their friendships. This book can show children that there will always be other children that are feeling just like they are whether its being afraid of the dark, being scared of heights or just being sad. I instantly smile at the cover, seeing a shark fit in a school desk and wear a small cap on his head.

It is not a normal thing for a shark to go to school or wear clothes, however, the creative use of personification and the idea of putting the animals in a school setting, makes it relatable to younger children who attend class.Natalie and Henry are passionate about teaching children the importance of being kind to our planet, and bring to light the topic of pollution in our seas through their lovely books. An eco-minded Redbridge school student who published a book about a friendly litter clearing shark is hoping his story will inspire people to start the New Year by joining green initiatives in the borough. The teacher shows Clark a better way to enjoy what he likes while also keeping his excitement under control. I will look forward to reading it to young folks in my life - especially those who are fans of creatures that are a bit more scary than fluffy bunnies or teddy bears. Other ideas for English, could be freeze frames in drama for the chaotic behaviour of Clark and his resolve, or classroom rules brainstormed together for display.
