About this deal

The idea of changelings definitely adds a sinister tone to the story, but in the end, I was still unconvinced as to which way this one wanted to go. Angel is very confident, and while her morals are right, her bravery and fearsome temper may lead her to do things she later regrets. At once both chilling and captivating, this psychological thriller blends reality and fantasy so well, even you may find a hard time distinguishing what is fact and what is fiction. On one side you have a woman that is living in fear that something will happen to her children and on the other you have history and folklore. Golding said that she intentionally played into this ambiguity, but wrote as if both interpretations were true.

She has been employed in many occupations including farm hand, factory worker, childminder and music teacher. Melanie Golding's "Little Darlings" is creepy and provocative, and had me reading well into the night to get to the end. That said, this is still a solid four stars for me and I will absolutely be looking for more from Golding. Jacqueline Wilson's latest guaranteed bestseller shines the spotlight onto the crazy world of celebrity. If there is a sequel to this book, I hope it addresses the neglect and abuse that these kids suffer from. Looking back I'm thinking maybe I wasn't supposed to have any questions about the relationships, and the truths behind them, but the ending left me with unresolved answers and was very abrupt! I recommend this book for readers who love dark fairy-tales, mothers who aren't weirded out by horror books about babies and anyone who likes a good shiver.

A story that is in turn enthralling, creepy and downright sinister, Melanie Golding turns fairy tales on their heads in Little Darlings, making this one to watch out for in 2019. The child is not mine as the first was, I cannot sing it to rest, I cannot lift it up fatherly and bliss it upon my breast; Yet it lies in my little one's cradle, And sits in my little one's chair, And the light of the heaven she's gone to transfigures its golden hair. LITTLE DARLINGS isn’t your typical psychological thriller that we all enjoy reading - this is a full-blown horror story.Wilson allows for the reader to not only see how ‘the other half lives’ so to speak but also watching the development of the characters and how they feel about their lives. Having been through an experience where I just gave birth and my nurse commented "I won't steal your baby, you can go to the bathroom", which sent me into an all out melt down, where I pulled my baby into the bathroom bed and all, and threatened the nurse. The pages turn quickly and the unanswered questions leave a spooky feel to the story for a thrilling read. We follow the story of Lauren, who has just given birth to twin boys, and she keeps seing this horrible woman who wants to change babies with her. Her parents intense arguments force her to step up and help take care of her two younger siblings, and she develops a sweet bond with the nanny Claudia which was a nice addition and good way of including an adult voice to condemn her parents' behaviour within the story.
