About this deal

Then they will learn the importance of the conjunction ‘and’ and how it is used to extend a sentence. The resource is designed to be printed onto A3, and is provided as both a PDF and a Word version (so that you can edit if you want to). This could also be a good way to introduce adjectives, where children could identify their favourite toy or character and describe them. Follow the adventures of Bunting, an old toy cat, and his friends at the museum who come to life when the lights go out.

Lucas’s stylised illustrations and unusual use of perspectives cleverly convey the magic of this engaging story. One day Halibut Jackson receives an invitation from the Queen to a party at the palace and starts work on his most ambitious outfit yet, a bejewelled suit of silver and gold, which he thinks will go unnoticed amid the splendours of the palace. The children will explore the box and make simple sentences to describe some of the toys inside the box.Lost in the Toy Museum: An Adventure by David Lucas is a delightful story perfect to use alongside Twinkl primary resources when teaching and learning about toys in KS1. With the help of a series of notes, he finds them, and they reveal that they were playing Hide and Seek. I personally would use it as a topic book for whole class use, and perhaps be able to use it within guided reading for the lower ability groups to take a closer look and discuss it further. One night they decide to run away from the main character, who is not quite sure what is going on, as he think that all the toys have gotten lost.

As he follows the trail of clues through the museum, the normally reserved Bunting learns how to have fun in this affectionate picture book from one of Britain. com, and picked as one of the top 10 children's books of that year (across all genres) by both Publisher's Weekly and Child magazine in the US. It also is a good book to look at character development in literacy and what toy would a child pick to come to life and what would their personality be.In this magical adventure story the reader is given a glimpse of the 'what-if' world as the adventures of Bunting and his fellow friends at the toy museum through the typical childhood game of 'Hide-and-Seek' is played out in the book. This detailed and visually-appealing resource offers a complete reference point for students learning or revising David Lucas’ 'Lost in the Toy Museum. In 2008 he was chosen as one of BookTrust's Best New Illustrators, as part of their Big Picture initiative. An exhausted, migrating Bluebird shelters where the Robot’s heart used to be; he builds her a nest of wires.

A nice PSHE circle time activity may be to bring in their favourite toy and share memories with the class. For Art Prints please allow 5 working days for unframed prints and 15 working days for framed prints/ stretched canvas. This book would be used in Key Stage One, and could easily be used as a topic book, as it is accessible across the curriculum for a number of different tasks. The roguery and playfulness of children is brought to the fore and the story is engaging as ignites one's inner-creativity and imagination. The illustrations and names of the toys could be useful in a phonics lesson as alliteration is used by Lucas regularly and the fun aspect of the story would bring enjoyment to the learning experience. The children will consider the significance of the title of the book and they will make ‘wonderings’ about what might get lost. They story contains a number of questions, which could then be directed at the children to assess their comprehension of the plot, and what predictions they might make to the story’s progression. I think it is a very suitable book for primary school children in East London as it’s based on the author’s memories from Bethnal Green, that alone I would imagine would be of interest to children. It would also be suitable for EAL students as the illustrations throughout are fantastic and would help bridge any gaps or misconceptions in the written text.
