I found them reasonably comfortable, despite the build, and the freedom of movement was still fine during a test hike up Rhinog Fawr in a wild corner of Snowdonia. They also feature boot hooks at the ends of the legs, which help keep the trousers securely in place during any activity. They are not fleece lined so they don't do real well in the cold, but they are decently waterproof (Only had issues at the shin when trudging through swampy areas) and break the wind really well.
