About this deal

By the time I got to the third act breakup scene I was just ready to put the book down and be done with it. They became vulnerable in every way possible to each other and becoming each other's support system, each other's biggest cheerleaders, they're just perfection. Their story is cute, the banter between them is hilarious, and the spice is 👌🏻, but the book took a hot minute to get into and I almost DNF. The heroine starts dating the hero, a hockey player from her school rival’s team (which her brother and ex both play for her school’s team). I love the fact that Bailey ended up with real friends and dumped those sh*ts she surrounded herself with in the beginning.

Following a string of scandals and substandard grades, Chase is on thin ice with his teammates and tyrannical coach. I’ve read many books with college-aged characters and it was SUCH a breath of fresh air to see Bailey and Chase handle everything that came their way with maturity and very limited pettiness. After a chance encounter at a nightclub, the two of them form an unlikely friendship that develops into something more. At the beginning we see Bailey and Chase, who go to two different colleges and their hockey teams are rivals. I loved how he fell for Bailey first and afraid or shy about his feelings towards her And he was so patient and kind to her.bailey is so loveable and realistic and chase is just a downright simp for her—and that is not a bad thing as well as being a total flirt at the same time.

Caught in the midst of a bitter rivalry that extends far beyond the ice, Bailey and Chase are on opposite sides of the bench. Because so much of the book was them in their happy phase, a lot of it read like we were just following along on their daily lives, little to no plot, character or relationship development. The length of the book could have been reduced and i would have loved to see more buildup in the relationship which I felt was a little rushed.

He didn’t deserve that at all, and that’s truly my only complaint - we didn’t get to see how all of that was handled and if it had as big of an impact as it was assumed on his hockey career (but I haven’t read the bonus chapters yet so who knows).

Here is a quick description and cover image of book Offside (Wattpad Version) written by Avery Keelan which was published in 2019-7-25.

Bailey is smart, independent and a great person who isn’t afraid of hard work to achieve her dreams.Offside follows Bailey, a college girl who gets broken up with on her birthday, and Chase, a hotshot hockey player from Bailey’s rival school. This book is hot, and definitely intended for mature audiences (yes, I know you’re probably not 18 and reading this, but I’m forewarning you), and I found myself swooning on multiple occasions because of the hero. I liked Chase immediately but it took me some time to warm up to Bailey because initially she felt like a doormat which i dont want to see in my MCs. Except that plan falls through because Chase isn’t a total douche and shuts her down because she’s blackout out drunk (we love a man who is big on consent), and she may or may not have puked on his favorite pair of shoes. I read this story from wattpad and i really enjoys it very much and i would recommend this to others who are finding a book to read.
