I would have liked for the adults to realise what they were doing wasn’t right but I guess adults aren’t always enlightened so that didn’t happen.This heartfelt, queer update on Grease features a diverse cast of teen characters and a charmingly earnest protagonist in Ollie. I also ended up dropping a star rating in part because of the same character and also in part because of other characters that were toxic/homophobic at the beginning of the book. But then Will starts "coincidentally" popping up in every area of Ollie's life, from music class to the lunch table, and Ollie finds his resolve weakening. But when Ollie’s family decides to stay in NC, Ollie lets himself hope this fling can grow to something more. Rather than loosing herself in a purply metaphors Gonzales has opted for a more direct and plain prose and this first-person narrative is perhaps the most accomplished aspect of Only Mostly Devastated.He makes mistakes and assumptions and is really far from perfect, but despite his flaws, you just want him to be okay and happy.
