About this deal

Adding compost or aged manure to the soil can help improve the drainage and nutrient content of the soil. Growing oranges in pots allows you to enjoy the fruits even if you have limited space and not so favorable climate! Love the aroma of orange blossoms and the delicious fruit, but perhaps your climate is less than desirable for an outdoor orange tree grove? Pick any ripe fruits when you move the plants indoors in autumn, and again when you move them outside again, as ripe fruit can inhibit flower production.

There's a huge spectrum of orange shades, from the palest peach and apricots in plants such as the moth orchid 'Las Vegas' and Geum'Totally Tangerine' to the brilliant orange of Dahlia 'Vulcan' and brick red orange of Gerbera 'Sweet Glow'. Use a specialist citrus compost like Westland Peat Free Citrus Potting Mix that has free drainage and the perfect balance of nutrients for healthy citrus plants. To keep pots looking pristine and avoiding damage to floors and furnishings the solution is to include a flexible liner inside the pot. Over fruiting can stunt the growth of young trees as well as leave it susceptible to pest damage and freeze injury. This means the diameter of the grow pot at the top of rim x the total height of the plant including the grow pot.

There are lots of others to choose from including Lilium henryi, a Turk’s cap lily, which has orange spotted petals that curve backwards. These plant pots are not guaranteed 100% waterproof, use a waterproof liner to protect against moisture damage.

In winter, orange and lemon trees will fare best in a cool, frost-proof area such as a garden shed, cellar or unheated greenhouse. Finally, prune the tree to create a balanced structure and to ensure that the center of the tree is open. You can do this twice a year, once in the late winter or early spring and once in the late summer or early fall. There are many orange tulips to choose from, whether you want an elegant variety like ‘Prinses Irene’ or an attention-grabbing tulip like ‘Fabio’ with orange frills and deep scarlet orange petals. First, add a layer of gravel or rock to the bottom of the pot to aid in drainage, then add some of the soil mix to rest the roots on. Citrus plants are good to grow as a houseplant because they thrive in the stable warmth that is provided indoors. Sticky leaves: these could be a sign of citrus mealybugs or scale insects, which thrive in warm, humid conditions.

Liners come in various sizes to fit the internal dimensions of the pot and can be trimmed down to size to create an unobtrusive barrier for the plant and soil to be potted into, whilst protecting the pot from unsightly calcium or fertiliser deposits from the soil. There are several varieties of orange oriental lilies including the dwarf Asiatic hybrid ‘Orange Pixie’, with star shaped flowers or the hot-coloured ‘Orange Ton’. This is known as the orange ball tree for its eye-catching, sphere-shaped blooms, made up of lots of small flowers. Hydroculture plants - These require a hydro kit for assembly, this includes a waterproof pot liner with a base wide enough to accommodate the hydroculture grow pot.Monitor for Pests: Monitor the plant for any signs of pests, such as aphids or whiteflies, and treat the tree accordingly. It’s a big house plant with exotic flowers that is best suited to a warm room, out of direct sun, with plenty of humidity, such as a bathroom or conservatory. Citrus Rust Mite: A tiny mite that feeds on the leaves of citrus trees, causing yellow or brown spots. When pruning, use clean, sharp pruning shears and make sure to cut the branch at a 45-degree angle, which will help it heal quickly.

Sow this annual from March to April for a long-lasting display that's ideal for adding colour to containers. Westland’s Houseplant Watering Indicator is a great way to monitor whether your orange tree needs watering or not.The roots above the granules will pull the water gently out of the granules (capillary action) to keep them moist but not wet. Every three to four years the tree will likely outgrow its container and may be heralded by leaf shed, browning, and twig dieback. There are geums to grow in just about every shade of orange, from peachy ‘Pineapple Crush’, to luminous ‘Totally Tangerine’, to burnt orange ‘Firefinch’. As they are not frost tolerant, make sure temperatures don’t dip too low in the winter for them–if it does, keep your plant inside.
