Of course, if you want more you can always equalize the bass up, and given the quality of the Koss’ low end, it will still sound way, way better than so many other headphones. These also work great for those of us with smaller ears, as the ear cup is somewhat subdued compared to other studio-style headphones. Superb proprietary aluminum voice coils and the highest quality components and engineering lead to a sound that is not just fun, it is incredibly accurate and life-like. Perhaps more importantly for some users, the Panasonics did good job of keeping the music from leaking out of them, even as we went Insane in the Brain with some old school Cypress Hill turned up to 11. We were able to hear crystal clear notes throughout a variety of environments including busy city street, working out, and in flight.Music that was already generous in this area, such as the album Villa Manifesto from Slum Village, could sometimes sound a little too boomy, but it never thumped its way into a one-note drone and still had decent pitch definition and clarity. But in fact they are quite low distortion, sweet and warm, for all of their high frequency detail, and this makes extended listening even nicer. Unlike many of the competitors they’ll share shelf space with, they also have the pedigree of an established consumer electronics brand. Even though the soft leather around the ears makes them more comfortable and acts as a tight seal, the weight may become too much, particularly for prolonged periods.
