About this deal

I have used it for years on manes/tails/feathers but recently I dropped a bottle and the whole lot split onto my pony's fully clipped neck.

With mine, applying it had no obvious effect, but he continued to live out in muddy conditions without getting any mud rash. i knew a girl that used pig oil on her welsh to make it look shiney at shows and never affected it maybe just your horse has sensitive skin and this product just doesnt agree with him. Can I ask, when you say you applied it every 6 weeks (as preventative), did you just apply it first off on clean, dry legs then wash it off and re-apply avery 6 weeks? Due to the yellow colouring of the sulphur, it will give white legs a slightly yellow tinge - but fear not! Although i can imagine it wont be suitable for every horse thats why i always do a little test patch first.

ditto always apply it without washing (i wash as little as i have too so only wash for shows)- just brush off any dirt first.

To measure your dog for a dog rug, measure the dog from the scruff of the neck to the top of the tail. In my opinion nothing other than tested equine products should be used on horses, that includes pig oil, skin so soft etc. I'm eternally grateful to TheresaF on here for her copious notes about the use of this, it has made winter a lot easier for us personally.Of course you will occasionally get the horse that reacts badly to an equine product and that is unfortunate. I have washed Dylan's mane and tail and feathers today and then had to blow dry his feathers as they just wasn't drying! Vet said my tb is very sensitive, and the reaction may start digging into the flesh or leaking in the next few days if I'm unlucky it's horrible!
