About this deal

Build and Battle Stadium packs its contents in a sturdy, nicely illustrated container box which you can use for storing your collection and comes in pretty handy for packing your stuff for a tournament play. My two Build and Battle boxes had a pretty similar decks with a main difference in Infernape evolution chain + Moltres vs.

In these battles, you will be able to test your battle skills against Pokémon Trainers from all over the world. In the Stadium box there are two individual Build and Battle boxes, 4 standard Brilliant Stars boosters and some useful accessories: 6 damage counter dice, a pack of Brilliant Stars energies (121 total), 1 coin-flip die and 2 acrylic condition markers. Depending on your luck, you may also get your hands early on some staples or top hits from the expansion. Thinking into the future, I would pick up Build and Battle Stadium again, but depending on the promos and the actual set I guess. In the deck I also got Infernape evolution chain (2 copies of each), Mothim which is a free retreater (and resistant to Fighting) and thus super useful in prerelease formats and a Liepard as a supporter Pokémon (non Promo version). If you’re considering one of the recent Stadium products, pick up the Brilliant Stars edition - promos look great and are quite handy even for competitive play, and the set itself is probably one of the best in recent history.

Additionally, in the each box you’ll find 4 standard Brilliant Stars boosters, collection checklist, a code card for unlocking the box in Pokémon TCG Online and most importantly, a 40-card ready-to-play deck. It is still thin however and you may want to enhance it with some trainers from the boosters, depending on your luck. Most notable difference from the previous Build and Battle boxes is that Brilliant Stars edition contains ready-to-play decks. However, with 12 boosters in total, a couple of promos you cannot get anywhere else and some extra goodies, there’s an audience for it for sure.

To use the Battle Stadium, you may need to install update data that may become available on or after the games' release date. Booster packs are standard Pokémon booster products containing 10 game cards each and a code card to unlock a virtual booster pack in Pokémon TCG Online. Players will be able to take on battles in the Casual Battles and Online Competitions modes as well. Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield players cannot battle with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet players. In Brilliant Stars expansion, an energy card you would usually get in boosters is sometimes replaced by the VSTAR game marker in a form of a card.As a reminder, cards from a new expansion are normally tournament-legal the second Friday following the set’s release so players have some time to get and test them. There are also prerelease tournaments where you’re going to need this product, or at least a single Build and Battle box. You would also have to bring your own energies to those prerelease tournaments but from Brilliant Stars expansion, energies you’ll most probably need are already included in the decks. You’re going to need energies for any deck you build but looking solely at this product, they are extras and not needed for play as you also get them in Build and Battle boxes. The actual Build and Battle package is a deck box which can easily fit more than 60 sleeved cards for carrying around.

It’s not competitive at all for tournaments, but I find it awesome for a casual play with your family and kids and reminds how Pokémon TCG used to be when everything started. That’s why you may not need an extra energy pack from the Stadium box if you just want to try these decks, head-to-head.
