Like many Agile methodologies, Scrum is good for industries that are constantly in flux, or for pioneering new projects. Kanban is based on a continuous workflow structure that keeps teams nimble and ready to adapt to changing priorities.

Some companies even choose to follow a hybrid model of scrum and kanban, which has acquired the name of "Scrumban" or "Kanplan," which is Kanban with a backlog. The scrum approach has tasks on the sprint backlog not assigned to developers by any particular individual or leader. Agile is well-suited for ongoing projects and projects where certain details aren’t clear from the start.

This makes it easier for project teams to adapt to changing priorities, respond to problems that arise, and cut down on cost, time, and inefficiencies. Often thought of as an agile project management framework, scrum describes a set of meetings, tools, and roles that work in concert to help teams structure and manage their work. It is a framework within which people can address complex adaptive problem while productivity and creativity of delivering product is at highest possible values.The Product Owner shares the features that must be completed in the sprint while the team determines the required tasks. On the left, we see the product backlog, which has been prioritized by the product owner and contains everything desired in the product that’s known at the time. Before each sprint, in the sprint planning meeting (which we’ll discuss later in the article) the team chooses which items it will work on for the sprint from the product backlog. Scrum is best suited in the case where a cross-functional team is working in a product development setting where there is a nontrivial amount of work that lends itself to being split into more than one 2 – 4 week iteration.
