About this deal

These frankly unbelievable leatherette cushions filled with cooling gel-infused memory foam fit to your ears with deft ease, and you can wear this thing through a whole night of banging your head against a Destiny 2 raid and not want to take it off. The ear cushions are nice, though – thick and very cushioning, but with good breathability and even a layer of cooling gel to help ensure that your ears never get too hot or uncomfortable. A crystal clear mic that’s – unfortunately – indiscriminate about what it picks up may you give you pause, if you live in a noisy area or household, though. Stick to games and listen without a comparison and you may initially think that there’s not much to complain about with the Stealth 700 Gen 2, short of an occasional bit of fuzz to an effect. Alternatively, the LucidSound LS50X is a great premium pick with Bluetooth capabilities, and a perfectly fine microphone.

This microphone features accurate audio output across the vocal spectrum, including in the bass range, where most gaming headsets don’t. As such is compatible with PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC –though the headset is largely directed towards Xbox platforms. A 20-hour charge is on the high side of average for a gaming headset, but that should be more than enough for most players, so long as you keep a charging solution handy to top it off between sessions. The direction of footsteps was always clear, but it all felt a little flat: I found it difficult to make out subtle differences in how far away gunshots were. One of the biggest differences between the Stealth 600 Gen 2 and Stealth 700 Gen 2 is having access to both the Xbox pairing protocol and Bluetooth. But the Stealth 700 Gen 2 sounds less spacious and open than the Pulse, and it struggles to convey distance effectively. Unfortunately, while the new generation of consoles has arrived, it didn’t bring a new era of cross-platform compatibility, so you’ll need to get the Xbox version if you play on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Multiple players on the other end of the chat picked up both ambient rain noise and distant sirens via the mic – that’s not an issue in and of itself (if anything, it speaks to the mic’s quality), but you may want to be aware of that if you live in a busy and loud urban area. wireless connection, and during testing with my PS5 it paired instantly every time, including the first time I tried it.You may also notice the issue when rotating the Stealth 700 Gen 2’s earcups on their hinges, which allow the cups to lie flat on your chest or on a table. As for the sound quality, that’s entirely unchanged from the 700 Gen 2, which means the same, powerful 50mm speakers pumping clear and loud. The stalk mic is a big advantage for the Stealth 700 Gen 2 over the Pulse, though, not in terms of how clearly it picks up and transmits your voice (squadmates report that there’s little difference in vocal clarity between the two), but because it picks up far less background noise than the essentially invisible microphones of the Pulse headset. Turtle Beach designed a nice dual-hinge system that allows for a decent range of tilt, and lets the headphones lay flat when you don’t need to wear them. It doesn’t give you full EQ level controls, so it isn’t as robust as what you’d find on a PC headset, but it’s more than you get with many console headsets.

Incredible, 40+ hour battery lets you play for weeks on end without ever thinking of charging the battery. As a mark of how comfy it was, I fell asleep while listening to podcasts late at night with the headset on, and only woke up several hours later.Normally, mesh covering on earcups is a red flag for me – it’s often scratchy and heats up quickly: The Stealth 700 Gen 2 only started to feel hot after long gameplay sessions, which I found impressive. Having both Xbox and PlayStation compatibility is great and to alternate between the two, just flip a switch on the USB-A RF dongle.

We have very minor complaints about the quality of the hinges and joints that allow the cups to move and the headband to adjust, but through some quite intense testing (over a period of months! Both headsets have the Xbox pairing, which makes syncing your headset with an Xbox extremely convenient. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 should last through 20 hours on a single charge –though we’ve managed to get more out of the headset on occasion (when playing without voice chat, for example). It has a secondary hinge letting you move slightly closer or further from your face, but it’s a far cry from the reshapable wire mics you find from many other manufacturers.
