Arguably one of Stanley Kubrick‘s more underrated works, ‘Lolita’ tells the story of a middle-aged man deeply infatuated with a gorgeous teenage girl. Most people dismiss ‘ The Reader‘ as a mediocre, Oscar-bait drama that’s nothing more than a skin show. People like me look depressed, aloof, unsociable, and mentally ill to most people because we have decided that we just can’t be understood by others and don’t behave around others like more extroverted people do (the majority). It is hard to look at the actions of your mother and decipher between what is MORALLY right and wrong when you have no other BLUEPRINT to go off of. I was totally shocked when I learned the whole thing and that my dad had contacted her to inform her that he had contracted AIDS and that he was about to die.
The film is blatantly provocative and, for the most part, plain unwatchable, but you just fail to take your eyes off of an explosive Isabelle Huppert, who is in top form here. Arguably the most controversial film on the list, ‘Ma Mere’ is easily the most disturbing and unwatchable film about incest ever made. When I first saw this blog, “The Untold Impact of Mother-Son Incest,” I immediately responded to it without reading the other comments. There’s a sense of lurking danger felt throughout the movie, but the way it portrays its characters and their relationship make us empathize with them rather than trying to put us off with blatant emotional manipulation. He is seduced by the wife of his father’s business partner but ends up falling in love with her daughter.to my mind then (forgive me if I am wrong) you haven’t had any other long term intimate relationships OR… Those you have had will be held up for close scrutiny and comparison by yourself and possibly your mother.
I think a lot of people assume that anyone with a fixation with their mother will turn out to be like Norman Bates, but that’s part of the problem when people are demonized for having something strange in common with a famous movie serial killer, like “Does this man love his mother a little too much? No innocent child deserves to come into this world with a high risk of suffering just to satisfy anyone’s desires. How could this man with the scruffy beard be the same toddler that I would hand-feed pieces of Munchkins to so he wouldn’t choke?
