About this deal

It is a really interesting read and even if you don't have any personal experiences with the subject matter, the book still draws you in and teaches you a thing or two about the law. Told from the point of view of each woman, their plight pulls you in from the start, and continues to keep you engaged as they find their own paths through the devastation. All characters were unlikable, the story's "twists" were as predictable as the winter snow in Chicago. What I didn't like about this book and why I rated it so low was that it was pretty boring It was similar to other "other women" themed books and followed all the same themes. But I could no more make that statement than to say a person being cheated on allows their partner to cheat on them.

Suzi wants to keep her family together, but all she can think about is the man she’s still in love with, the man she’s been waiting to hear from for months. Eleanor Anderson has been married to Richard for 38 years and together they have two adult children. Four years before his death, he married Claire Anderson, and they had two toddler age children together. As my four star rating says, I definitely recommend it to friends – Mum also read it and really enjoyed it.

As Michael Robotham notes in his acknowledgements to the latest instalment, "When I introduced Professor Joe O'Loughlin in The Suspect, I had no idea that he would become my most enduring and best-loved character". It was a bit like it had been dubbed, (and I really do think some of the actors' voices were changed) even though they were clearly speaking English. I did like the multiple points of view and how they twisted together, and predicted some twists, but not all. Suzi's hiding secrets she knows she shouldn't share with anyone, especially not a woman she barely knows—but she also needs help.

Perhaps I should cut them some slack - maybe the screenplay/dialogue was a collaboration written by the 9th grade creative writing class of 2010. Her books are especially popular in Germany because the national television station ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) has produced more than a hundred of her stories as TV movies, starting with The Day of the Storm in 1993. The collision course they are set on kept the tension dialed up to medium high and when the truth is finally revealed it was suitably dramatic.

Of course, the excitement of the first years is gone but they have a good, solid marriage, two adult children and a grand kid, enough money not to worry, no special health problems. The basic story had promise but was destroyed by a bad director and producers that tried to turn it into something it isn't.

Review: The Other Wife by Michael Robotham - Booktopia Review: The Other Wife by Michael Robotham - Booktopia

Those Russian women, they knew how to deal with the cold, and that was by throwing all sense of fashion out the window and essentially going out dressed as a bed”.This is a beautifully written story that would be any married woman's nightmare, I couldn't even imagine what I would do if I was in Eleanor or Claire's shoes. It is a story of loss, growth, compassion and forgiveness and will leave you craving more from this talented author. Suzi, the most fully fleshed out character, is pregnant and living in fear in a remote cottage where she is the victim of domestic abuse.

The multiple points of view were sometimes too much to cope with, even though all that was intentional for the story itself. Rosamunde Pilcher, OBE ( née Scott; 22 September 1924 – 6 February 2019) [2] was a British novelist, best known for her sweeping novels set in Cornwall. Naturally, his will would leave everything to Eleanor, his devoted wife for decades, the woman who gave up her education and career to make a home for her family. And Nick is getting more and more controlling by the day, having a say about everything from how she cleans the house to any piece of food she puts in her mouth.Even Rupert Everett exudes NO emotion whatsoever but at least he's off screen most of the time, and doesn't come off completely rookie when he does make an appearance. McGowan’s goal was for the reader to find most of the characters abhorrent, and in my opinion, she achieved this goal. This story is told from different timelines and multiple points of view, all expressed by the female characters, Suzi, Elle, Nora, and Eleanor, that this story revolved around. My emotions were scrambled as she contemplates whether to confront the beneficiary and when she has her moments with Martha.
