About this deal

Seeing Lucy everywhere she goes, she suffers a breakdown – we meet her later as she is trying to build a new life away from all the horror of her past – then she meets Bea. As things get more sinister, Abi realises that something isn’t right in the house or between any of them. For much of the book you see events from Abi's point of view but some chapters are in Beatrice's voice. This will appeal to any fans of psychological dramas and thrillers, especially those with damaged characters and a plot that has you trying to work out the twists you know are coming. Beautifully written, clever and so gripping, with increasing tension and menace until the heart-stopping explosive finale.

The Sisters by Claire Douglas | Waterstones

The unguessable connections and conclusion makes this worthy of its front-cover connection to one of the most popular psychological thrillers of the modern day. The blurb makes no bones of doubt that Olivia had been imprisoned for plotting to murder her husband.

Beatrice who hands out a flyer to Abi offers Abi Cavendish to come and make new friends at her house. As Abi tries to keep up with the demands of her fickle friends, strange things start to happen - precious letters go missing and threatening messages are left in her room. Não lhe dou duas estrelas porque passei de facto grande parte do livro a gostar do encaminhamento da história enquanto tentava perceber quem era realmente o vilão e porque se comportavam todos de forma sugestivamente bizarra.

Per farvela breve, perchè voglio che capite di cosa sto parlando (metteró la recensione sotto spoiler ovviamente), la protagonista Abi è ancora sconvolta dalla morte della gemella due anni prima. There was quite a strong but subtle mental health element to this book: the main character having suffered depression, suicidal episodes and other issues.British author Douglas’s debut thriller, the winner of the Marie Claire Debut Novel Award, probes the complex emotional landscape of female friendship. Where Abi keeps being haunted by her twin Lucy she thinks she has seen her sister but it is someone handing out flyers who makes and sells jewellery at her house.

A chance encounter with an aspiring artist named Beatrice—who has a troublingly close relationship with her twin brother, Ben—draws Abi out of her shell. It was chosen as a winner for Marie Claire fiction contest and Good Housekeeping also recommended it).

This is a good "mess with your head" novel that has you wondering what is coming up next chapter by chapter, you can't just dip into this book, you need to devour it. Taylor has acquired quite a (well-deserved) name for herself as one of the modern-day queens of the thriller, and The Guilty Couple further cements that. As an adult her love of reading has only increased and she can always be found with her head in a book. She finally got her wish after winning the Marie Claire Debut Novel Award for her first book, The Sisters, which became a bestseller.
