This book would be a great tool to incorporate into the classroom because it represents view points from so many places around the world and gives students exposure to all kinds of different cultures. It gives information about the animals that live there, the food the people from that country eat, and their culture.

Response to Two Professional Reviews: Booklist says that it is inviting, thought provoking questions at the end make it engaging and I agree. This informational picture book brings engaging nonfiction content to younger readers by showing them how other children live around the world. Each country has a dedicated spread with a small map that shows geography and landmarks, letting readers imagine they are traveling, too. We piggyback on the young boy's imagination and take a trip around the world visiting countries such as Japan, Mexico, Kenya, Canada, and many more.

While there isn't a whole lot of other languages included besides names of places and greetings it does give a good window into the different cultures from around the world. The artistic elements are extreme, this book has a lot of text so I would not recommend students to read on their own, however doing it as a class and integrating it with content and a lesson plan would be a fun filled week. A Ticket Around the Word is a great book by Melissa Owens and Natalia Diaz, illustrator by Kim Smith (2015), the plot is about a principal character a young boy who hops around the world, visiting friends in 13 different countries spanning all six continents. I would have the students split up and to pick a country that was mentioned in the book and have them summarize the country’s attributes, and then have the students present their information the class. The teacher could read this book and then have students compare and contrast the different countries.

Along the way the theme is developed by each friend introduces to their country’s environment and customs, and shares interesting facts about their country’s culture, language, food, geography, wildlife, landmarks, and more. For the younger grades, the teacher could have students draw in a suitcase what they would bring to the different countries. While many books of this kind can be over crowded with facts, this one wasn't - a definite perk in my opinion. In this story, a boy who’s name or native home is never revealed travels to 13 different countries to visit his friends and their families. A Ticket Around the World is an informational story about a boy who travels to 13 different countries and visits a friend from each one.The vivid and bright illustrations help draw the reader in and make the reader eager to turn the page. Summary: The story of A Ticket Around the World by Natalia Diaz and Melissa Owens is a follow along style book as each page depicts a new country and culture. You might learn about the alphabet in some countries, their food, the household, what he did on his visit, the animals there, etc.
