About this deal
What I like best about this series is how it builds through the layering of characters, how it uses Buckingham Palace as another character, and how the Queen is so central to the story.
Oh, there’s crime and murder and evil going on, but we know that the Queen, in her calm and methodical manner, will get to the bottom of it with her discreet, capable Assistant Private Secretary Rozie Oshodi. The Queen’s Private Secretary, Sir Simon Holcroft; The Keeper of the Privy Purse, Sir James Ellington; and Master of the Household, Mike Green.
I read it fairly quickly, mostly because I was loving the pacing, the plot, and of course, the characters! Although several of the men in charge of different departments try to keep it a secret, there comes a time when the Queen insists Rozie tell her what’s wrong. She was certainly ahead of her time in what women were allowed to accomplish, and her story is as exceptional as her paintings.
Also, the poison pen notes bring up racism and misogyny, as does the choice of the artist Artemisia Geniteschi whose paintings are featured.Used books have different signs of use and might not include supplemental materials such as CDs, Dvds, Access Codes, charts or any other extra material. I’ve often said that I came to romance through the door marked romantic suspense and All the Queen’s Men is that door.
