Harrop Fold was placed into special measures in October 2018 with Ofsted finding that "the school is failing its pupils", as well as "considerable uncertainty concerning its leadership".

It's hinted at in the opening moments of the first episode as it's stated: "Harrop Fold School is now under different leadership. It's unclear how much of the behind-the-scenes troubles will make it into the new series of Educating Greater Manchester, although it will likely feature new interviews with Povey about his suspension and the decision behind his resignation. It's a good book to read if you're looking for school change in behaviour or in a leadership position where you need to turn things round. In his books, he explores mindset, charisma, leadership and positivity, inspiring readers to make positive changes in their lives.Through sheer determination and strong, visionary leadership, Drew and his management team (including his two brothers) have wiped out the GBP600k a year deficit and are reducing the huge debt - while continuing to get standout results from pupils. His renowned expertise in leadership and high performance has seen him feature in Forbes, where he compared elite sporting athletes to high-performing leaders and discussed their common traits and habits. We then heard then-headteacher Drew Povey say that they had "really high hopes" for the year ahead, before "it all went quite badly wrong" as Povey and three other members of staff found themselves suspended. Above all it left me with the sense that with passion, spades of hard-work, and a down-right unwillingness to give up, absolutely anything can be achieved. It is easy to read and contains a few inspirational quotes that aren't the usual cheesy ones found in this type of book. All that I can say is I want to work at Harrop or at least shout his word to everyone so they take notice and listen and follow.

He draws you into this and really makes you believe that you can become, or help others to become, better leaders. His book illustrates that however well managed and inspirational that social deprived schools like Harrop Fold are, thet will not achieve high absolute standard of educational attainment. We were also lucky enough to get an early run of his latest book to take away, which I can’t rate highly enough. In November 2019, Ofsted told new headteacher Claire Wright that the new regime was "taking effective action towards the removal of special measures". It did teach me a few new things about leadership and reinforced what I already knew about behaviour of kids and adults and how important listening is.

I didn't warm to Drew when I started watching the Educating series, in fact of all the series he was my least favourite Head. Moreover, Drew is the accomplished author of When The Clouds Come, The Leadership Factor and Educating Drew. But production on the series wasn't as straightforward as before due to a story that broke after filming finished in July 2018, which left Channel 4 unsure whether the series would actually air.
