The Firebolt was first developed by Randolph Spudmore around 1993, at a time when brooms made by the Nimbus Racing Broom Company dominated the market. Whether players are ranking the brooms in Hogwarts Legacy or Harry Potter fans are comparing the broomsticks mentioned in the book series and film franchise, the broomsticks are a significant part of this magical world. This was the Firebolt, a top-secret project developed by Randolph Spudmore (son of Able Spudmore of Ellerby and Spudmore, who produced the Tinderblast in 1940 and the Swiftstick in 1952, both serviceable brooms, but never achieving great popularity). Because Firebolt broomsticks hover at convenient mounting height when not in use, the usefulness of the apparently undetachable bipod is questionable, except for display, such as in the window of Quality Quidditch Supplies in Diagon Alley.

The Nimbus Two Thousand and Two Thousand and One models outsold all other top-class brooms combined by a factor of three to one. After being thoroughly tested (which included stripping it down), the broom was given back to Harry since Professor Flitwick and Madam Hooch found no jinxes, hexes or curses on it. Hermione was in the right to have her doubts about the sudden appearance of the Firebolt from an anonymous source and she was right to think of the potential danger and look after Harry's safety. Fans would love a Harry Potter movie about Quidditch since the game is such a big part of the franchise. Furthermore, Harry had literally fallen fifty feet from an airborne broomstick less than TWO MONTHS earlier.It was a gift from Professor McGonagall (Maggie Smith) after Harry joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team as the new Seeker. His mother, his father, and the family house elf are the ones who break him out of prison with his mother staying behind in his place. While Harry is excited to be given the Firebolt, Hermione knows that a murderer is at large and wonders if something evil and sinister is going on.
