About this deal

As you use it more, you get better at estimating your in focus area and the 28mm wide angle lens gives you space to reframe a shot if your hip shooting technic still needs a little practice.

Adding an EVF will make the GR III a better camera for sure, but if it adds additional bulk to it I might reconsider. I am getting out of my GRIII the same quality I used to get from my Fuji 645 rangefinder in the film days!We took to the streets for some portraits and shot a few macro photos for this first installment in our sample gallery. I was worried about battery life but luckily I also have the Olympus TG-4 with a spare which is compatible. The results I've been getting out of the Ricoh GR III when shooting at night has been some of the most impressive shots I've ever seen from a compact camera.

They should have worked better on it: it was the only button on GRII that could be ‘palm dialed’ by mistake*. I think one of the most important changes in the GR iii is the proper implementation of live view during all shooting modes. Now that I’ve gushed over this camera for 10 minutes, let me tell you a few of the areas where the Ricoh could improve.Yet the GR 3 fits much better in my hand, more quickly and easily controlled, better experience all around. Switching to one of those modes activates relevant parameters, and then you can proceed with all compensations you want. Eight focus modes are now available including the new Continuous AF for more versatile shooting styles.

APS-C CMOS sensor and GR Engine 6 to realise smooth tonality, rich colour and high sensitivity from ISO 100-102400, along with the ability to produce high-resolution 14-bit DNG stills or Full HD video. On my second GR3 and the issue is still the same with not even sending it off for repair fixing the issue. This includes the saturation, hue, high/low key adjustment, contrast, contrast (highlight and shadow), sharpness, shading, clarity, toning, filter effect, grain effect*, and HDR tone level. However, I have to say that I think there's plenty of room for improvement when it comes to the shutter button, besides the response issue, it also feels somewhat flimsy and cheap considering how much this camera costs. Good range of customization options in the camera, this includes being able to program the U1, U2, U3 modes on the dial (which I haven’t as I just use Aperture priority mode) and also the ability to customize the inbuilt image control simulations as well as 2 custom slots for your own recipes.

We've taken a closer look at the image quality and dynamic range impact of the move to a Stacked CMOS global shutter sensor. Although I shoot various genres of photography with the GR3 , it was primarily designed for street shooters.

Since Ricoh also brought us the G700, an IPX8-rated camera with about the same form factor as this one, I wonder what the hurdles are to making this one weatherproof. Don't get me wrong there is lots of room for improvement with ergonomics even on the small body but controlling is not as bad as I thought it would be.
