About this deal

Teach them how to be a night-owning girl like you” are as much an appeal for her to love and appreciate her dark skin as they are the exhortation for Amani to enjoy the night. In 'Kipper's Toybox' our lovable dog protagonist is busy counting his soft toys in to his toybox before bedtime.

This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use. When Kipper identifies the culprit he thinks his troubles are over - but in actual fact they are only just beginning. His books have sold over 4 million copies, and have been translated into over twenty different languages. With many attempts at counting his toys Kippers is surprised that the extra nose he counts is in fact a mouse! A fun one for children to look at on their own, but I think I can still make it an enjoyable storytime. It is useful if you are a collector as you can use the back page to see which Kipper books you have not managed to pick up yet. The only sad thing was my British accent was not quite the Kipper British accent, though I know I can do it very well. He is a classic picture character now, loved by children the world over in the same way that Thomas the Tank or Peter Rabbit are loved.

Lined up for enumeration, the toys are six again; but after putting them back in the box, he finds eight noses.

This story encourages children to count as they become involved in helping Kipper find the cause for the hole in his toy box. Summary: Kipper has put all his toys away in his toybox and decides to count them so that they are safe. So if you have a child read this and then get scared and stop encourage them to read to the end then they won't be scared anymore. His best-loved characters are probably Kipper and Wibbly Pig – who are both stars of their very own TV series!

Though the text is simplified, it’s still beyond the board-book audience, and the illustrations deserve full-size books. Kipper will let you see the character from the start, or more doggy antics can be found in I Don't Want a Posh Dog by Emma Dodd.

Kipper, a charmingly fubsy dog, is concerned: something has nibbled a hole in his toybox; and when he dumps his toys out, he can count one too many: seven. The children jump rope to the sounds of music as it floats through a neighbor’s window, gaze at stars in the night sky, and play hide-and-seek in the moonlight. Our donations to The Rainbow Centre have helped provide an education and a safe haven to hundreds of children who live in appalling conditions. He and his wife, Debbie, also had children of their own by this point: “Without the experience of having children of my own I doubt that I would have been capable of writing effectively for children.
