About this deal

These clusters are too large to have enjoyed in my 100mm binocular telescope because of the FOV limitations. It still helps to be stable positioned, but the stabilization gets rid of all the high frequency jitters and you heartbeat etc. Eye relief refers to the distance between the eyepiece and the observer's eye, which determines the comfortable viewing distance. However, if you are big fan of hand-hold observing, or hike/travel to observe, or contemplating premium binoculars as your next purchase, you should consider image stabilized.

I thought my selection of binoculars is good, but Canon easily superseded them all, delivering sharpest views with pinpoint stars and ultra-flat field. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.

The Canon IS cancel shakes, but not larger body movements, so you have to work together with binoculars to achieve the best result.

As a result, there is none of the image distortion and blurring at the periphery typical of high-magnification binoculars. Lens hoods are merely a few millimeters above the objective glass which makes me nervous using them without UV protection filters. I have been interested in IS binos for some time, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen them turn up as Cyber Monday deals. For value you can only really compare to equivalent bino's with mount and tripod, and even then the hassle factor must be considered.

CPS members can find the right contact for each country and get through to the experts who can help you. I had one many years ago and sold it, but I have been re-converted, and should have listened to Kimmo many years ago. The Pentax 12 x 50’s I have and use with a trigger grip monopod set up, serve me well but as we all do, I was thinking the Canon’s could beat this in “hand held” mode ? In addition to the light weight, there is no eye strain to make you tired, so it is possible to use these binoculars for a long time. I might add that I have corresponded with Roger and he is very generous with answering questions if you need something not covered in his reviews. The large field of view means you can always see the subject, while Porro prism II and a Super Spectra coating provides superb colour rendition and a high image resolution. Similar to my pair except the vibration sequence occurs much more frequently -- every second or two. The Fujinons were optimised for sailing - they are quite good at counteracting the slow, large amplitude motion of a heaving deck, but not good for suppressing the shakes.

I put an "O-ring" between the focus knob and the binocular body to prevent focus creep when the binoculars are hanging down.

The 15x magnification is high powered for a monocular and would be suitable aviation and observation. On the second night I believe I saw a hint of the gap between the ring and the Saturn glob, but only with Canon.
