This one is weak on characterization (mind you, I think if I'd read book one first, I wouldn't have this complaint), and it's also weak on story. The way the clues are laid out and the setting of a remote island with a dysfunctional, wealthy family exude so much Agatha Christie vibes.

And this is really a good prequel to the start of the series as you get a sense of why Pippa chose to do her project on Andie Bell's murder case. i feel like the book played too much into the role of celia and while some ppl might like that, all i read abt was constant criticizing and how pip wouldn't do things her character did or working out the details of celia's life to prove she wasn’t the killer.
