Although the quiet scenes are there to give development to Dick Grayson as a character, this book doesn’t have many action scenes in it, although the last few chapters are about him meeting Jason Todd and helping him pass “the gauntlet,” the final test to become Robin. Unsure of what to do and where to turn, he seeks solace from familiar sources—including Superman, Batgirl, and Deadman. It's a really sweet read, if you need cheering up and love the batfam then this is the one for you, it's definitely worth picking up.Readers can uncover the secrets of two superheroes in Batman: The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight by Scott Beatty and Spider-Man: The Ultimate Guide by Tom DeFalco.

I enjoyed the connection with Deadman as they were both circus acrobats and also the conversation with Superman, which leads to the inspiration for becoming Nightwing. The story is also narrated by Dick Grayson, as if he's talking to Batman, giving us key insight on his understanding of the Dark Knight's way of life, himself, and how the world around him works. It was great to see how Dick wanted to continue helping people despite not being partnered with Batman and how he found a way to do that.Case in point, they find a smooth way to work in the post-Crisis explanation for why Dick chose the name Nightwing -- but even that reasoning has been tweaked in recent years due to changes to Krypton's mythology. Odds are most of the Nightwing art you saw from the ’90s to early 2000s was probably from Scott McDaniel. We see the origins of his solo career when there is a break up of the partnership between Bruce and Dick and how it happens after a mission with the Titans and them rescuing a kid, him venturing out on his own and meeting Superman and learning about the kryptonian superhero Nightwing and then following Dick to the Circus again and having strange encounters there and team up with Batgirl after donning his new avatar and finally teaming with the new Robin Jason and saving Alfred in a hilarious story and maybe getting his groove back again!
