Malory Towers has undergone a particular, often feminist, re-evaluation in recent years with its depiction of a powerful female-centric world, and the TV series reflects that cultural approach. My own view is that, at the very least, the tax benefits currently enjoyed by the schools should be conditional on radical improvements to access and meaningful outreach and resource sharing, perhaps even going as far as requiring independent schools to federate with maintained schools. We share Emma’s passion for these characters and we couldn’t be more excited to see Emma’s vision of Malory Towers come to life. Episode 7 was my favourite to film because it was the Open Day episode where my on-screen family comes to visit.
