About this deal

Jimi hendrix's debut recording was an instant classic, and is as startling today as when it first hit the streets in 1967. This is not the same mix that is heard on the modern Mono reissue as that was sourced from the US Stereo masters which were themselves copies of the UK Stereo masters.

Hendrix’s performance at The Monterrey Pop Festival, where in a competition with fellow Track Records artist The Who for who could produce the most stage mayhem, famously included setting his guitar on fire both figuratively and literally. They placed four songs from the album on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time: "Purple Haze" (17), "Foxy Lady" (153), "Hey Joe" (201), and "The Wind Cries Mary" (379).K., albums did not include singles, so the record omitted “Hey Joe”, Hendrix’s first single (issued on Polydor because Track wasn’t yet up and running) “Purple Haze” and “The Wind Cries Mary”. Art directed by Ed Thrasher this August '67 release cover uses a Karl Ferris infra-red fish-eye photo, with purple psychedelic text on yellow.

I have a pressing that appears to be this one, however my runout is etched "RS 6261-A-30681-1F" for Side A and "30682 RS-6261 B 1A" on Side B. It wouldn't have meant much, however, without his excellent material, whether psychedelic frenzy ("Foxey Lady," "Manic Depression," "Purple Haze"), instrumental freak-out jams ("Third Stone from the Sun"), blues ("Hey Joe"), or tender, poetic compositions ("The Wind Cries Mary") that demonstrated the breadth of his songwriting talents. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. The 200-gram records feature the same flat profile that helped to make the original UHQR so desirable. Nonetheless the American version sounded as wild and correct as the British one sounded dead in the water dull. UHQR pressing is inspired from JVC Japan, which 30 years ago was the pinnacle of high-quality vinyl.

Like the later 'Axis', the Mono is a very different mix to the Stereo version and the band are more 'upfront'. With demand ever increasing on the market, these are getting increasingly difficult to find in any condition! Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. In the edit page, go to the 'Metadata' tab and add your Juno artist, label or release page for listeners to purchase your release / releases.Jimi Hendrix synthesized various elements of the cutting edge of 1967 rock into music that sounded both futuristic and rooted in the best traditions of rock, blues, pop, and soul. Each UHQR will be pressed at Acoustic Sounds' industry-leading pressing plant Quality Record Pressings (QRP) using hand-selected Clarity Vinyl® with attention paid to every single detail. His songs filled ears with indelible sonic images and songs like 'Foxy Lady' and '3rd Stone From The Sun' pointed the way toward a new brand of rock-charged soul music. Analogue Productions presents another UHQR classic title — Jimi Hendrix's classic Are You Experienced.
