About this deal

The original Tiny Terror was well known for its compact size and 20-watt output that made it an ideal travel amp, but the Orange Micro Terror is even more portable. It’s roughly the same size as a lunchbox, lightweight, and you can plug in your headphones or an MP3 player right to its auxiliary input. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. Terminals labeled as “Speaker Outputs” must be connected to a speaker cabinet of the designated load rating using an un-shielded two-conductor cable for speaker use at all times during operation.” The sound cleans up nicely. Turning down the guitar’s volume just a little has a dramatic effect on the sound. The amp will give you a good rhythm tone, even at higher gain settings, without killing the sound level.

The display is pretty straightforward, and a series effects loop is also given in the display, using which you can customize your favorite effects. You could easily do a small pub gig with this amp and there are many videos on the 'the tube' which show how it can easily drive a 4x12. There is also the option to swap out the pre-amp valve for a better one, but until the one in it dies, I am quite happy with the sound. It’s a long way from being the most stylish or best looking head and cab but it’s absolutely fine and no worse than many others. A guitar amp head is basically a guitar amplifier, but without speakers. You will need to connect this amp head with an independent speaker unit if you want to hear the sound properly. The outstanding features of this amp head are what make it one of the best and the smallest amp heads in the country. It couples a valve preamp to a solid state output section for generating a lot of tones, which is truly the company’s marvel, considering its pint-sized frame.

One 12AX7/ECC83 pre-amp valve powers the Micro Terror’s single channel with 20 watts of solid state output. Though its circuitry is slightly different, Orange refers to the preamp in the Micro Terror as the “Tiny Terror” for good reason. Its single channel has a similar tonal quality to that of the original Tiny Terror. When you see the two at the musical instruments shop, you will clearly observe that there is a big speaker section in the combo amplifier, and there is only a bar on which there are all controls and knobs in the amp head. What is a Cab? Other Features: Single channel hybrid, valve preamp with solid state power amp. Auxiliary input for MP3 or CD.

An authentic and unfirm sound is always guaranteed with the Orange Micro Dark. No matter if you are using it with a small-sized speaker or a large speaker cabinet, the sound will always be enough to satisfy a small group of friends as well as a large crowd of fans. Orange put the step-down transformer and DC rectifier in an external power adaptor to keep the size of the amp’s casing as small as possible.

Now that we have covered most of the basics of the conversation we are heading into let’s look at some of the more specific information. First of all, and most importantly, there is no effects loop! This is the amp’s biggest limitation, in my opinion. An effects loop would have made this unit totally awesome. The controls are located on the front of the head. When it comes to combos I tend to prefer the controls on the top as the amp usually lives on the floor. But for a head like this that is mostly going to be on a desk or around head height the front facing controls are ideal. Please note: This product does not come with a speaker cable. Please see the related items section for an appropriate cable. Specification As said earlier, the capabilities are enormous, so you should not be judging the book by its cover only; this tiny amp head has a treasure hidden, just waiting to be explored. It is enough to support you in a home studio as well as on a small stage.

It’s basically a downscale version of the Tiny Terror – the original lunchbox amp. It’s one of the most perfect home practise amps that we’ve ever made.”– Alex Auxier, Orange Artist Relations If you’re interested in the internal workings then the Micro Terror is a hybrid amp. That means it’s uses a single 12AX7 preamp tube with a class D transistor power amp. A mix of solid state affordability and reliability with tube tone. The Orange Micro Terror houses a single 12AX7 pre-amp tube, powering 20 watts RMS of solid-state output. The Micro Terror is powered via a 15-volt DC supplier and features a handy auxiliary input for MP3 player, CD player etc and can be plugged into to any cabinet with 4-ohm or greater handing - it'll even a power a 4 x 12 cabinet... Seriously! However, just like many other companies have experienced bankruptcy in their lives, so was the fate of the Orange company as well. Guitar players will sometimes try to expand their skillset by playing other instruments. Many of them set their eyes on the bass given all the […]

Since then, the reputation of this British company has only been burgeoning, and the list of its products has been on the rise. Orange Micro Terror Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty I generally dial in a fairly transparent clean tone to use as a base for drive pedals, and have found that they work well with pedals. Obviously, there is no effects loop, so that's something to be aware of if you like running pedals through a loop. I began playing somewhat late compared to a lot of people. I was 15 years old as it had taken me a while to find the confidence to believe in myself and take that step to learn to play an instrument. It started my lifelong love of music and playing in general. Since then like so many before me I've become an addict and gone through more guitars, amps and gear than I care to remember.

The company once again started operations in the year 1997, after being overtaken by the Gibson Group in the U.S, who once again handed the corporation over to Mr. Cliff Cooper. Conclusively, the capabilities of this small amp head are worthy of some great praise because it is almost impossible to instill such great sounds in such a small-sized amp that you can fit even in the smallest of your gig bags.

Customer Added Media

For the most part, the construction of this pint-sized amp head is good. The silk-screened metal chassis is one of the hallmarks of the Terror series and gives the users a good sense of familiarity with the company. I'm on a tight budget but I really want to get the tiny terror. I wanted to make sure it was loud enough to carry over my drummer before I bought it and 15w seemed low compared to my 100w ss marshall. Both the amp heads in conversation today, the Orange Micro Terror and The Orange Micro Dark, come from the Orange Company. Cliff Cooper was a member of the band called ‘The Millionaires’. The company recognized a need for a unique design early on in its development. For bedroom practice or playing at home then the 1X8 will be fine. However, there’s no doubt it sounds better through something bigger. Ideally a minimum of 1X12 cab.
