About this deal

If you have ever had an allergic reaction to chlorhexidine digluconate or any of the other ingredients (see storage and further information). Some people get peeling skin inside their mouth when using chlorhexidine. If this happens to you, stop using the medicine and the side effect will usually clear up. Speak to your dentist or doctor, who may be able to recommend a different medicine.

There are no common side effects with chlorhexidine skin treatments. However, in rare cases, some people may get red, itchy or irritated skin. It may be because you are using too much lotion or cream where you have folds or creases in your skin, such as around your groin. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with Corsodyl mouthwash. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect.Chlorhexidine has also been shown to prevent the formation and build-up of plaque on teeth, which helps prevent inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). Using the mouthwash is particularly useful when toothbrushing is a problem, for example following dental surgery. How do I use Corsodyl mouthwash? Stop using the mouthwash and seek immediate medical help if you get a rash, swelling of the mouth or face or have difficulty breathing. These effects may be symptoms of a severe allergic reaction which is very rare. Common side effects happen in more than 1 in 100 people. They're usually mild and do not last long. For the treatment of gingivitis a course of about one month is advisable although some variation in response is to be expected. In the case of aphthous ulceration and oral candidal infections treatment should be continued for 48 hours after clinical resolution. For the treatment of dental stomatitis the dentures should be cleansed and soaked in Corsodyl 0.2% Mouthwash for fifteen minutes twice daily.

If the mouthwash causes soreness, irritation or swelling in your mouth, or any breathing difficulties, you should stop using it and get advice from your pharmacist, doctor or dentist. Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before having something to eat or drink. How to use sore throat treatments

Chlorhexidine has also been shown to prevent the formation and build up of plaque on teeth, which helps prevent inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). Using the spray is particularly useful when toothbrushing is a problem, for example following dental surgery or in people who are physically or mentally disabled.

Corsodyl is incompatible with anionic agents which are usually present in conventional dentifrices. These should therefore be used before Corsodyl (rinsing the mouth between applications) or at a different time of day. Corsodyl 0.2% Mouthwash is incompatible with anionic agents which are usually present in conventional dentifrices. These should therefore be used before Corsodyl 0.2% Mouthwash (rinsing the mouth between applications) or at a different time of day. Discoloration of the teeth and tongue may occur. The stain is not permanent and can largely be prevented by reducing the consumption of dietary chromagens such as tea, coffee or red wine. In the case of dentures this can be prevented by cleaning with a conventional denture cleaner. In certain cases professional treatment (scaling and polishing) may be required to remove the stain completely. Stained anterior tooth- coloured restorations with poor margins or rough surfaces which are not adequately cleaned by professional prophylaxis may require replacement. Similarly where normal toothbrushing is not possible, for example with intermaxillary fixation, or with extensive orthodontic appliances, scaling and polishing may also be required once the underlying condition has been resolved. Brown staining of the teeth. This is not permanent and can largely be avoided by brushing the teeth with toothpaste (but see above), or in the case of dentures, using a conventional denture cleaner. Avoiding drinking tea, coffee or red wine, especially in the hour after using the mouthwash, can also help prevent staining. Where normal brushing is not possible, or if any staining remains, your teeth may need scaling and polishing by your dentist after you've finished using the mouthwash. Chlorhexidine is incompatible with certain ingredients of conventional toothpastes. For this reason, after using toothpaste to brush your teeth, you should rinse your mouth with water and wait five minutes before you use this spray. Or, use the spray at a different time of day to when you brush your teeth.Adults and children over 12 years of age should use 10ml of the mouthwash to thoroughly rinse the mouth for about one minute twice a day. Spit the mouthwash out after use. If you buy a chlorhexidine treatment in a pharmacy or supermarket, follow the instructions that come with it. For prescription medicines, follow the advice from your doctor, dentist or a pharmacist. Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before having something to eat or drink. Dosage and how to use mouth spray
